About The Job

Job Purpose

Responsible for all Financial Planning & Analysis activities. Leads Financial Planning (operating and capital budgeting and forecasting, long-term financial planning and financial systems), Financial Analysis (flight profitability, labor analysis and ad-hoc financial analysis and bench marking), and Fleet Planning teams. Support, coordinate and facilitate prioritization and financial decisions related to the Company’s strategic objectives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

* Provide financial leadership to ensure alignment and measurable progress towards the Company’s financial goals and strategic objectives

* Lead three main strategic teams:

* Financial Planning – Operating and capital budgeting and forecasting, long-term financial planning, financial systems support

* Financial Analysis – Flight profitability metrics and systems, financial benchmarking, ad hoc financial analysis and labor analysis

* Fleet Planning – Long and short term strategic decisions and analysis related to our fleet of 1,500+ aircraft

* Ensures coordination, execution and provide support for cost, revenue and operational initiatives to drive value to the Company

* Provide guidance and coordinate materials presented to the Board of Directors and senior leaders on Company’s performance towards financial goals and strategic objectives

* Manage multiple high priority initiatives simultaneously in a fast paced environment

* Extensive collaboration with all leaders and divisions throughout the company

* Consistently present to senior leaders and Board of Directors on company’s financial performance

* Lead a team of 70 professionals, majority entering through the MBA program

* Develop strong leadership pipeline for future leaders of American Airlines

* Demonstrates departmental leadership by seeking opportunities to develop lower-level team members by actively including them as owners on projects, and by coaching, mentoring and serving as a role model in all respects

Qualifications

* 10+ years of Finance leadership experience

* Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance, or related field

* MBA or equivalent work experience preferred

* Extensive financial experience – budgeting, forecasting, prioritization, analysis

* Knowledgeable in multiple financial modeling techniques

* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

* Proven ability to identify and implement creative and innovative solutions to complex problems

* Exhibits and demonstrates the characteristics of our Leadership Model
