Summary Description:.

This position is responsible for technical support of the operations, engineering, quality and sales teams as necessary to develop the knowledge, expertise and reputation of RathGibson as a premier supplier of welded stainless steel and alloy tubing. It involves planning and implementation of manufacturing process modifications and improvement projects, technical advice and support for manufacturing, sales and customer support and training, product failure analysis, and all facets of product and process development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create & maintain engineering standards and part masters (travelers).

* Control Owner for Bill of Material and Router Change SOX Control.
* Maintain and manage Quarterly Documentation.

* Assess and maintain routing details including: alloy limitations, product specification requirements, tolerances, heat treatment, testing and stencil requirements.

• Provide technical input & guidance on projects and capital asset requests.

• Support:

* Contract Review
* RFQ – technical questions, support, guidance
* Specifications
* NCM – provide technical input where required for root cause & corrective action
* On-site customer technical presentations

• Product failure investigation, analysis, and reporting.

• Technical committee involvement for technical skills development, professional advancement, and sales support.

• Project Management on critical customer orders.

• Proactive new product development initiatives.

• Maintain and manage current revisions of all legislative and regulatory specifications and standards (ASTM, ASME, etc.).

• Technical support for mill and plant operations as necessary.

• Identify & implement process modifications working with the Operations team.

• Develop & implement SOP’s

• Develop and implement process improvement initiatives.

• Assist with Customer, End User and Notified Body inspection, audits & report generation activities.

• Support Certification Audits.

• Act as Notified Body-Appointed Weld Examiner

Qualifications: Education and/or Experience Required:

• BS or equivalent experience in an engineering discipline, preferably dealing with welding and metal fabrication.

• Experience with the application of alloys for corrosion resistance.

• Working knowledge of heat treatment and non-destructive examination of stainless steels.

• Familiarity with nondestructive and destructive testing processes.

• Experience with product failure analysis and investigation.

• Experience with cross-function communication and teamwork in a manufacturing environment.

• Clear and concise interpersonal communication.

• Familiarity with standards and regulations including: ISO 9001:2015, PED 2014/68/EU; ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code.

• Understanding of manufacturing processes and testing technology – specifically metal forming and welding processes.

• Technical project management skills.

• Computer literate with working knowledge of an ERP system.

• Communication skills.

• Technical writing skills

• Presentation skills
