AMETEK Rotron’s AC and Brushless DC Fans and Blowers and Cooling Systems have successfully supported some of the most stringent Military and Aerospace vehicles, programs and installations for over 60 years. Our products are specifically designed to operate in harsh environments, while delivering effective, efficient and highly reliable cooling solutions.

With over 25 product families, a high degree of vertical integration and core competencies in the design and manufacture of aerodynamics, electromechanical assemblies, motor drives and liquid vapor cycle cooling systems, we offer the widest product range in the world, with thousands of P/N’s active and available today. At the same time, we specialize in working with our customers to create unique product configurations to address the specific cooling requirement – not only for the cooling capability, but space claim, weight, noise, power consumption and system controls.

We help our Customers pick the right product for the job - minimizing design, program, schedule and contract risk.

The successful Technical Publications Manager (TPM) candidate will play a critical role in supplying required supporting documentation to support new and existing products.

The role involves creation and maintenance of technical documents for a wide range of new and existing products including Fans, Blowers, Electrical Motors, Electronic Controllers, Power Conversion Units and Thermal Management Systems. The work involves working within a multi-disciplinary team including Project Leaders, Mechanical/Electrical design engineers, engineering technicians and Program Managers to support product development as well as sustaining existing product documentation such as ATP’s, QTP, QTR’s and associated Project SDRL’s.

Duties include:

• Researches, writes, edits, and supervises the production of Company publications including proposals, reports, test procedures, manuals, and contract-fulfillment documentation.
• Interprets customer specification requirements to derive and formulate the specific requirements, test procedures and relevant reports.
• Uses problem-solving techniques to keep writing and publication projects moving by resolving personnel, equipment, and budget bottlenecks.
• Works across all departments to gather and verify required source material and then present that material in an industry-acceptable manner.
• Strong technical understanding of Design, Materials and component selections
• Working knowledge on Aerospace documentation process with proficiency in DO 160 / MIL Standards, ATA 100, ATA iSpec 2200 and AECMA Simplified English.
• Experience in working on Authoring AND Illustration tools like PTC Arbortext Editor & Arbortext Isodraw, Adobe Framemaker, Tech Illustrator, MS office Suite, Adobe Acrobat
• Experience with CAD (or similar) for creation of diagrams and minor revisions to existing drawings.
• Hands on product testing experience would be an advantage.
• Knowledge on IBM Rational DOORS would be an advantage.
• Maintains high quality Company publications and coordinates outside talent for maximum productivity and cost effectiveness.
• Supervises in-house and outside supplier personnel such as editors, writers, designers, artists, photographers, typesetters, and printers.
• Draws up work plans and publication-production schedules.
• Manages budget including planning and forecasts.
• Negotiates terms of contracts with outside vendors for technical documentation.
• Prepares cost quotations for technical documentation for contracts and purchase orders.
• Reviews and edits the work of other technical writers.
• Maintains company publications database and other related databases as assigned, including revision control of documents.
• Identifies potential areas for process improvements and lead, or participate in, assigned internal project teams to review, assess, measure and implement effective countermeasures.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in a related field
• Minimum five years experience in Technical Writing, Manufacturing or Engineering field
• Excellent verbal and written skills are mandatory for clear, professional interactions with customers, contractors, engineering and program management.
• Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects and to coordinate timely activity of involved personnel
• Strong collaboration and boundary-spanning skills
• Experience in the military/aerospace industry, and/or experience with custom designed products involving
customer specifications is a plus
