Description

Based in Toronto, Ontario, you will be the first line supervisor and accountable directly to the Manager Train Operations, ensuring that the train movements are operated on time, safely, efficiently and economically over the entire Transit system consistent with our customer and Bombardiers mission of providing excellent Customer Service. You will interact closely with the other Managers and Supervisors in operations and maintenance.

In your role you will:

Ensure that all transportation activities are performed safely and promptly while providing a courteous service to clients;

Coordinate, direct and supervise train operators through diagnosing diesel engine malfunctions, troubleshooting, inspecting, maintaining and repair of locomotives;

Monitor and undertake action to ensure performance of train operators on board trains, train handling, adherence to schedules, mechanical knowledge and regulatory requirements, initiating remedial action to eliminate undesirable operation practices;

Be accountable to investigate safety rules and policy failures and respond and act safety, health and environment related issues, identify cause, implement or recommend corrective actions or action plans;

Diagnose engine malfunctions, start engines, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, use of hand tools, perform minor repairs and maintain service including GO and UP operations;

Provide on the job training and coaching for train operators, customer service ambassadors and assist the Supervisor Training in the development of follow up training as required for mechanical competence;

Investigate accidents, injuries, rule violations, mechanical failures, and other staff failures recommending corrective action to prevent a reoccurrence with a full report to the Manager Train Operations;

Represent Bombardier in investigations conducted by the host railways of Bombardier employees and arranges for Bombardier employees to be present and assist in determining root cause;

Ensure that train operators are fully knowledgeable with the equipment in order to affect repairs on line to minimize delays to train and their passengers in keeping with excellent Customer Services;

Provide input in the development of a Safety Management System dealing with the regulatory regime.

Qualifications

As our ideal candidate:

-
You hold a High School certificate or equivalent;

You have three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a related field;

You have the CROR qualification;

You possess the ability to drill down, understand root cause and resolve complex issues;

You possess a locomotive engineer qualification (considered as an asset);

You have excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
