Responsibilities:

WORK ACTIVITIES/CONTEXT:

* Lead a team of maintenance planners responsible for the timely and accurate execution of SWA Integrated Maintenance Program. This action includes, but not limited to planning & scheduling of all levels of maintenance checks, maintenance tasks, aircraft / component modifications, inspections and time limited deferred maintenance.
* Maintain and update MPM sections pertaining to his or her functions.
* Ensure proper integration of day to day Flight Operations schedules with planned aircraft maintenance routing through close coordination with Flight Dispatch and Maintenance Control departments.
* Properly manage deferred maintenance tasks (Carryover) to ensure the reasons for the deferrals are addressed and resolved in a timely manner. In addition, the individual will manage Time Limited Deferrals (TLD) to ensure effective and timely planning of terminating action.
* Manage daily the assigned labor hours to maintenance stations to ensure highest productivity level and efficient compliance with SWA Integrated Maintenance Program.
* Assign daily work, determination of work load and adjustment of work assignments as required for his / her team.
* Provide effective recurring technical (aircraft) and procedural training for his / her team and maintain the team’s training records.
* Generate performance plans, annual performance appraisals, recommendations for improvement plans, promotions, extension of probation and disciplinary actions for his / her team.
* Manage and approve vacation, time-off and maintaining time sheets for Planning employees assigned to his/her team.
* Review and Evaluate new maintenance tasks, inspections and modifications to ensure accuracy for proper planning and execution.
* Conduct fact finding investigations of Planning related noncompliance events including disclosure & reporting.
* Establish, develop and implement systems, procedures and audits for Aircraft Maintenance Planning functions under his / her control.
* Assist Fleet Controllers and Modification Planners in development and adjustment of annual and future plans. Also, will be responsible for preparation of forecasts for line and hangar overnight maintenance for manpower and facilities.
* Plan / supervise planning of induction checks (Make Ready) of new or newly acquired aircraft.
* Serve as liaison with contract labor representatives in relation to outsourced maintenance.
* Conduct system and software testing with the Technology Department on new hardware and software upgrades affecting Aircraft Maintenance Planning. This will include development of test scripts to evaluate new systems, hardware and software changes.
* Perform the duties of the Manager of Aircraft Maintenance Planning during his/her absence.
* Perform other related functions as directed by the Manager of Aircraft Maintenance Planning.

Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

EDUCATION:

*
A.S. or B.S. Degree in Aviation Technology / Aircraft Maintenance or Engineering is preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Required

* 4 years aircraft maintenance production experience, or
* 8 years aircraft maintenance planning experience, or
* 2 years aircraft maintenance production experience with 4 years aircraft maintenance planning experience.

Preferred

* 2 years supervisory experience in the areas of maintenance planning and scheduling, maintenance production, production control, or quality control along with one of the required items above.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATION:

* A&P license preferred.
*
Note: Bachelor’s degree in technical or aviation related fields, such as engineering or Aviation Technology can be substituted for A&P license.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:

* Must have Project management skills.
* Must be capable of developing and conducting training courses in aircraft systems for his/her team.
* Must have strong knowledge of aircraft systems and communicate effectively with other departments regarding these systems.
* Must be capable of scheduling maintenance requirements using computerized aircraft maintenance forecasting systems.
* Must be capable of working with and effectively utilize company provided electronic mail, word processing and spread sheet software.
* Must be able to work with others in a team environment.
* Must be able to manage time effectively during fast changing environment.
* Must possess organizations skills to handle multiple priorities.
* Must possess team building and motivational skills.
* Must be capable to effective oral and written communications.

Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

* Must be willing to work shifts, weekends and holidays if required.
* Must be willing to travel within the US a minimum of 4 times a year on station visits. Overseas travel maybe required once a year.

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
