Description
As a Software Test Engineer at L3 Telemetry and RF Products, you will work as part of a project team on the design, implementation and test of hardware and software that meets technical and functional specifications, following established development processes (including design and code reviews). This multi-disciplined position includes development of software for automated test systems (LabVIEW environment) as well as development, integration and test support for embedded systems including 8051 (Keil development environment), SoC (ARM) and other architectures.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Participating in high-level architecture design as a member of the design review team
* Applying engineering principles/concepts to solve problems and make modifications as necessary
* Documenting the software design and conducting peer reviews to ensure designs meet requirements
* Recommending, prototyping and implementing design solutions for complex subsystems
* Developing software that meets the requirements, performs unit tests, and integrates within a larger functional system
* Evaluating, verifying and validating developed software in the lab
* Working within a cross-functional team of system, software, hardware and test engineers
* Providing required status to the Program Manager and/or Project Engineer and supporting the successful execution of projects/programs
* Demonstrating consistent ability to solve problems independently
* Assessing and communicating the impact of design decisions on other organizations. Working cohesively with other areas to resolve these issues
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
* A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other technical field or equivalent education/experience
* At least 5 years of software development for automated test systems experience using LabVIEW
* Embedded software development experience in C / C++
* Experience with common software configuration management tools, such as Subversion
* Experience with Embedded Linux development
* Experience with Windows applications development
* Ability to read and interpret hardware schematics and test hardware interfaces to FPGA, microcontrollers and peripheral components
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile, results-oriented environment as an individual contributor and as an effective team player
* Disciplined “root cause” approach to problem solving and troubleshooting that includes hypothesis formulation and design of experiment intended to prove / disprove the hypothesis
* Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
Desired
* MS degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
*
Preference will be given to candidates with 6-10 years of industry experience in DSP/RF system analysis with aircraft systems or space hardware experience
*
Experience developing test software for RF systems, radio transceivers/transponders, and cryptographic systems
*
Experience with TCP/IP networking, Windows, embedded Linux, VxWorks, and multi-threaded and distributed programming is preferred
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Preference will be given to candidates with an active Secret (or higher) clearance at the time of hire.
