Collins Aerospace is looking for a software engineering lead capable of managing the software development efforts for our next generation control systems. An individual in this role will be responsible for the technical, schedule, and financial execution of safety critical software projects designed to DO-178C standards. This position requires an ability to lead large teams of software engineers through the entire DO-178C software development process, requires proficiency with producing engineering estimates, proficiency with Earned Value Management Systems and the ability to establish manpower plans for various projects. An individual in this role will be responsible for managing teams of engineers located at remote engineering sites around the globe.

This Senior Engineer, Software Systems Team Lead is for a seasoned Software Engineering professional, who will provide leadership to a team of software engineers. An individual in this role will oversee the technical execution of development programs and manage program execution to ensure cost and schedule objectives are achieved. Requires ability to effectively communicate high level design information and program status to various levels of management.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Perform engineering estimates by taking customer inputs to define the scope of work and cost associated with development efforts
* Formulate manpower staffing plans based on program scope, schedule, and staffing goals
* Create detailed software development execution plans that align with program budget and schedule constraints
* Lead software engineering teams through the execution of planned development activities
* Ensure software engineering development efforts are performed to DO-178C standards
* Determines end user needs by analyzing system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements and input data acquisition.
* Ensure hardware and software standards are met.
* Utilize Earned Value Management Systems to ensure program performance meets cost and schedule goals
* May develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.
* Present key program information to varying levels of management
* May train software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with 5+ years experience or
* Master’s Degree with 3+ years experience or
* High School Diploma (or Equivalent) and 9+ years experience

Education:

* High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred Education:

* Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering from an Accredited Institution
* Master’s Degree in Software Engineering from an Accredited Institution
