Software Integration Specialist II

Debugs software by utilizing or modifying existing database templates and tools. Validates modification scripts. Communicates software fixes to engineering for integrated customer systems (media and interactive software updates) involving software, hardware and systems after release by engineering and quality. Identifies issues in the Media Lab during testing and in the field post-installation and performs appropriate software fixes. Provides status and translates technical information for Program Managers for smooth Entry-into-Service implementation

Key responsibilities:

Monthly media and Interactive SW Integration

* Monthly media/SW integration and delivery to customers
* Rack install, setup, configure and troubleshoot in support of the media/SW integration
* Troubleshoot, debug and fix interactive SW issues, media issues and metadata issues.
* Develop, maintain and Troubleshoot interactive/GUI SW/applications and tools that are owned by the Company.

Root Cause & Investigation

* Works with media labs, third party service providers and/or vendors on routine diagnosis, analysis and fixes of integrated systems for routine monthly media updates.
* Performs programming fixes using predefined software development tools for 70% of identified system issues and communicates to engineering for future development corrections. Communicates “how to” instructions to engineering for repair of remaining fixes (30%).
* Tracks and resolves issues identified for new product launches and communicates action plans to Program Managers for smooth Entry-into-Service implementation.

Interactive SW (GUI) Development / Maintenance

* Develop, maintain and Troubleshoot interactive/GUI SW/applications and tools that are owned by the Company.
* Designs, modifies and implements Interactive Software / applications from functional and system design specifications.
* Codes, integrates, tests, debugs, and refines the software to produce the required product.
* Maintains the developed software efficiently through familiarity with software lifecycles.
* Provides leadership and/or technical guidance to lower level engineers, designers and support personnel as assigned.

Analysis & Resolution

* Monitors deliverables from internal departments and third-party vendors, keeping management apprised through status/performance reports.
* Researches new technologies for enhancement of monthly update operations. Develops and implements action plan to resolve issues requiring further analysis or action from internal or external parties.
* Responsible for the timely resolution of issues reported during Dry-Run ATP and in-service issues.
* Collects and analyses data reported by team members, escalating systems issues to engineering. Works with Systems Specialists in the identification of issues prior to contact with engineering.
* Deliver training and problem solving assistance to Software Integration Specialist I’s.
* Develops timeline commitment in response to Customer requests (CR’s). Provides knowledge, technical guidance and support to relevant departments for troubleshooting and resolving system and interface problems.
* Investigates and resolves system operating issues, including identification of size and scope of the problem. Develop and implement recovery plan working closely with staff and engineering.
* Streamline monthly update programs, ensuring the work of junior Software Integration Specialists are in compliance with department goals and objectives.

Knowledge / Skill requirements

* Proficient working knowledge of aircraft systems that interface with Panasonic IFE systems (preferred).
* Exposure to and/or experience with C/C++, UNIX, Windows, Linux, SQL; standard web technologies i.e. HTML, XML, Java Script, CSS and PHP preferred.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong analytical skills and complex problem solving capabilities.
* Ability to resolve management issues, to maintain work flow, quality and on-time delivery.
* Ability to work effectively with teams and escalates appropriate issues.
* Effective interpersonal, organizational, time management and problem solving skills with the ability to handle multiple projects.

Education / Experience requirements:

* Bachelor of Science Degree (4 Year course) in Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or equivalent.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in software or systems engineering that includes the following proven skill sets.
* UNIX/Linux
* RDBMS
* Shell Scripts
* mySQL /sqlLite
* Web technologies i.e. HTML, XML, Java Script, CSS, PHP etc.
* C/C++

* IFE System Development experience is a plus.
* QT and Android skills will be added advantage.
