Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Heat Exchanger team in Windsor Locks, CT; relocation is offered. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work with an integrated design team of project engineering, manufacture engineering, structures, purchasing and other product functions. In this team, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with the team to generate functional requirements that will meet the internal and external customers’ needs and requirements. You will calculate stress via finite element and analysis or hand calculations to ensure the part will meet requirements’ and support advance analysis if needed. You will also communicate throughout the development stage to management and the customer on the design, progress, and how it complies with the requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Work with an Integral Product Development, IPD, team to develop heat exchangers.
* Model Concepts for trade studies and analysis in Unigraphics.
* Build Finite Element Models to analyze components for static and dynamic loads.
* Present the design and analysis to internal and external customers.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

* High School Diploma (or Equivalent) and 9+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience, OR
* Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution with 5+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience, OR
* Master’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution with 3+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Ability to understand Finite Element Analysis tools.
* Proficient in the use of PC based office software.
* Ability to communicate clearly in spoken and written form.
* Proficient in the use of CAM/CAD (NX, Catia, Creo, Solid Works, Etc.).
* Experience with structural and mechanical design of plate fin heat exchangers or similar components.
* Experience with sheet metal fabrication, brazing, and welding techniques.
* Ability to manage parallel responsibilities and meet schedule commitments.
* Ability to read and understand manufacturing definition and tolerances.
* Excellent English writing skills including the ability to write clear and thorough stress report.
* Ability to understand code/script tools (Python, MatLab, VB, etc.).

Education:

* High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Preferred Education:

* Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an Accredited Institution.
* Master’s Degree in Engineering from an Accredited Institution.
