You will be part of the Product Development Engineering, Aerospace team where it all starts for Bombardier as it sets the stage to take full advantage of its investments and the tremendous growth potential of its new products. The organization is responsible for bringing new aircraft programs to their successful entry-into-service. Currently, these new products are the all-new CSeries commercial aircraft and the high-performance Global 7000/Global 8000 business jets.

In your role, you will:

- Participate in Talent Management activities across Business units as discipline owner.
- Provide expert support to other Business units as required (audits, document review, design reviews, supplier’s document review and approval, provide estimates of new or modified conceptual design).
- Develop Centers of Competencies for EMC/Lightning disciplines.
- Develop strategic vision for owned disciplines.
- Develop business opportunities with external firms (Consulting Companies, etc.).
- Develop and implement tools and processes as needed by the function in order to meet our organizational objectives.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities within the owned disciplines.
- Ensure adequate engineering resources are allocated to support other Business Units (Commercial Aircraft, Business Aircraft), as well as Strategic Technology projects within Core Engineering, as per budget and schedule.
- Establish yearly Departmental Operating Plan and Objectives.
- Recruit within your own department and in support to other Business units.
- Complete yearly budgetary exercise to evaluate the department’s manpower need linked to the operation plan.
- Perform employee evaluations via PMP/PDP process, salary and progression reviews.
- Provide Employee communication, recognition and development.
- Provide activities visibility to the Manager of Electrical and EMC Core engineering through (Workforce Planning, Balanced Score Card reviews and monthly operations reviews etc.).
- Support and coach the employees in all human resources management aspects.
- Manage and resolve priority conflicts within own department and with internal customers.
- Manage own department, including budget, training and travel in support to the Business Unit requirements and provide visibility on issues and escalations to you Manager.
- Ensure the use Achieving Excellence System (AES) best practices within own department.

Qualifications

As our ideal candidate,

- You hold an Engineering degree in Electrical and/or EMC/Lightning protection.
- You have 10+ years in the aerospace industry with good understanding of aircraft Electrical Systems and EMC/Lightning protection requirements and solutions.
- You have experience and understand how these systems integrate and interact to the overall aircraft.
- You have 2-3 years management experience with direct reports.
- You have experience with both development and sustaining programs. (Asset)
- You display strong interpersonal and professional demeanor as a business representative of the company.
- You have knowledge of BES, Change Management, Configuration Management and Continuing Airworthiness aspects.
- You demonstrate Bombardier leadership competencies which are Developing Others, Team Leadership and Influencing Others
- You display strong organizational and managerial skills.
- You have very good communication skills, verbal and written.
- You have excellent problem solving skills, work planning structure and prioritization.
