Job Description

PURPOSE:

The Quality Engineering Technician will work under engineering guidance on long term assignments that focus on manufacturing improvements. The focus of the engineering technician will be to execute engineering initiating that impact cost, rework, and productivity. This position will also work in conjunction with Quality Control Department with a wide variety of documentation and general clerical tasks including data entry and analysis, word processing, report preparation and filing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Collect, compile, and analyze technical data such as defect mapping, variable dimensional data, bellwether data, and process parameters on development and production part numbers and processes running in the plant.
* Correlate data for statistical analysis, graphing and database files. Format data into spreadsheets, control charts, graphs and diagrams to aid in analysis.
* Write, issue, and maintain manufacturing work instructions. Observe and document production process
* Evaluation of NMR (Nonconforming Material Reports) concessions as well as writing and submitting MRB (Material Review Board) concessions to customers.
* Accurate records and logs of NMR and MRB submissions must be maintained as appropriate.
* Process procedure revisions as necessary.
* Perform contract review tasks as assigned.
* Maintain and execute cost reduction programs for the Quality Department as directed by the Quality Manager.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
* Supports engineering and operations initiatives including special projects and part tracking.
* Identify and recommend process improvements for specified projects.
* Attend critical shop and departmental meetings.
* Perform or review systems analysis, testing, and documentation for existing processes.
* Independently take ownership and responsibility for identified projects.
* Participate on project teams for assigned projects; analyze improvements and new product or applications and develop requirements and specifications with team.
* Work within specifications provided to meet project goals and objectives in a timely and accurate manner
* Participate with peers, project team members, and other departments on new product development, product line extensions, and product enhancements
* Focus on critical part tracking throughout the shop to meet aggressive delivery schedules.
* Implement standardized manufacturing methods to requested engineering changes.
* Other duties as assigned

REPORTING RELATIONS:

* Reports to Engineering Manager or senior Engineer.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Computer skills must include Word, Excel and Power Point.
* Knowledge of related general manufacturing methodology
* Good writing skills and interpersonal skills
* US Citizen or Permanent Resident

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

* Associates degree and 1 plus-year relative experience preferred.
* Excellent math skills.
* Exceptional attention to detail.
* Ability to read blueprints, apply GDT and understand industry and customer specifications.

Proficiency in use of standard measuring tools such as micrometers, Vernier’s, height gauges, electronic calculator, etc
