Responsibilities

The Product Owner takes the responsibility of owning the quality of deliverables (products) produced by the Business Intelligence team. To facilitate this, the Product Owner has excellent business analytical skills with the ability to convert complex, often ambiguous, requirements into solid specifications and deliverables.

The PO office will direct resources, such as BI Analysts to meet demand as above. They will represent the BI team within the business and is the front door for engagement by the business. We expect the PO office to be the ‘voice of the business’ within the BI team and acts as a proxy customer for the rest of the BI team. It is imperative the PO office builds high quality specifications based on customer requirements and communicates these to the team.

The PO must be able to manage stakeholder expectations and match customer demand to the BI team and their capacity to deliver. We expect them to manage demand across multiple senior stakeholders, this requires a focus on the tone of communications and the ability to steer stakeholders to an outcome which matches the teams ability to deliver work.

This position will support the Head of Business Intelligence by suggesting changes to processes and approaches or taking direct responsibility for change themselves. The PO has end-to-end responsibility for the delivery and acceptance of products produced by the BI team. The PO has a keen awareness that the method in which we deliver is as important as the final product itself.

We expect the Product Owner to directly deliver outcomes and products in a capacity as a BI Analyst and has all of skills of this role. They will direct other allocated resources to meet outcomes. They will maintain strong relationships with customers and business units. We expect the PO to ensure the Business Analyst have the required knowledge to support the business and stakeholders.
