Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems. Develop and implements products and procedures for aerospace structures manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

* Assists with maximizing efficiencies by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization.
* Conducts operational (Time & Motion) studies to maximize work flow and spatial utilization.
* Maximizes efficiency through Lean Manufacturing concepts
* Designs and implements processes for manufacturing, which include labor, equipment, inventory management, quality, and on time delivery (from pilot to fully operational).
* Ensures efficiency and workplace safety throughout the facility
* Assists with planning to coordinate manufacturing processes.
* Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
* Must be able to read/interpret and develop engineering drawings, schematics, maintenance manuals and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repair or replacing malfunctioning/damaged components.
* Supports capital project teams, plant personnel, improvement personnel and other technical teams in the definition and implementation of business goals and objectives.
* Supports improvement teams in the definition, evaluation and implementation of improvement projects.
* Confers with vendors to determine product specifications for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
* Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
* Develops, evaluates, and implements manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
* Be a proven problem solver utilizing statistical methodology such as statistics, SPC, data mining, DOE and root cause analysis to identify and resolve manufacturing quality issues, cost reduction, product integrity and process improvements.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Materials Science only.
ABET accreditation desired.

3 or more years experience in a manufacturing enviroment desired but not required.
