Job Summary

Bring your airline flight operations experience to an exciting career with a progressive and growing company! Work daily with the most talented engineers and marketing persons in the industry on leading edge cockpit, avionics and systems development. Interface with numerous airplane manufacturers on everything from minor technology upgrades to new “clean sheet” airplane development programs. Support product line development and marketing efforts to both OEMs and airlines world wide.

The engineer we are looking for brings keen and insightful commercial pilot perspective to both OEM and commercial airline stakeholders regarding various performance aspects of existing and/or future Collins Aerospace products; including conceptual (theory of) operation, human factors considerations and operational best practices.

Job Responsibilities

* Acts as a technical advisor to senior engineering and Life Cycle Value Stream Management leadership. Maintains awareness of competition in external national or international organizations, the market served by the system and influence business unit market / product strategies. Develop technical & product roadmaps and competitive assessments in area of expertise.

* Participation in aviation industry activities including RTCA Special Committee participation, EASA Working Groups, FAA chartered industry groups, pilot union activities.

* Works with avionics, airframe and power plant engineers to manage or provide input on various avionics or airplane development program. Assist with the breakdown of high level performance requirements, defining performance criteria and creating flight operation scenarios to accomplish advance avionics systems testing.

* Author presentations and documents defining system requirements for both internal use and as a response to equipment manufacture Requests for Information / Proposal. Requires working with teams from programs, finance, engineering and product support to create proposed program schedules and develop and refine financial proposals.

* Interfaces with engineering and management personnel both internal and external to the company ranging from staff engineers through mid-level managers to senior managers and CEOs.

* Speaks to large audiences at company and industry events including sales and marketing symposiums, airline to company sales and Technical interchange meetings and provide explanations to OEM engineer and managers when necessary to validate product improvements or problem solutions.

Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.

* Extensive experience in Part 121/135 flight operations as either or both a captain or first officer. Part 121 preferred. Both Domestic and International operating arenas desired.

* Experience in Flight Operations management positions including but not limited to:

* Flight crew training development

* Project/program management

* Fleet manager

* Flight Crew management (Chief or Assistant Chief Pilot)

* Flight Standards management

* Flight Safety

* Technical Pilot / Line Check Airman / Simulator Authorized Representative Pilot

* Participation in aviation industry activities including RTCA Special Committee participation, EASA Working Groups, FAA chartered industry groups, pilot union activities.

* Experience working with avionics, airframe and power plant engineers to manage or provide input on various avionics or airplane development program. Assist with the breakdown of high level performance requirements, defining performance criteria and creating flight operation scenarios to accomplish advance avionics systems testing.

* Comfortable interfacing with engineering and management personal both internal and external to the company ranging from staff engineers through mid-level managers to senior managers and CEOs.

* Ability to speak to large audiences at company and industry events including sales and marketing symposiums, airline to company sales and Technical interchange meetings and provide explanations to OEM engineers and managers when necessary to validate product improvements or problem solutions.

* Mentor engineers on various aspects of airline flight operations through class room and lab training sessions
