Principal GNC Engineer

This position provides advanced concept development, design, implementation, test, and evaluation of AS&T.

You will demonstrate success by:

*

Development of outer-loop control algorithms utilizing feedback from a variety of sensors for tracking, precision guidance, and ISR mission support

*

Development of inner-loop control algorithms for vehicle stability and performance

*

Development of navigation solutions using GPS and/or alternate-sensor aiding

*

Development of high-fidelity 6DOF math models to simulate/recreate dynamic behavior of airborne flight systems and their sub-components

*

Technology planning and system-level trade studies providing requirements and performance specification

*

Mentoring engineers by demonstrating excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills

* The position can include time in office, lab, and infrequent flight test environments depending on program/task.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

* Must be a U.S Citizen with active DoD clearance required with the ability to obtain and maintain additionally clearances

* Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering degree with an emphasis on Control Theory (advanced degree preferred)

*

15+ years of experience in airborne flight control systems or related field

*

15+ years of experience using integrated sensor systems for guidance and/or navigation

* Fluency in Matlab/Simulink for development and analysis

*

Working knowledge in C/C++ programming

*

Extensive knowledge in control system design (classical and modern) including application to high-speed, unstable-airframe aerodynamics

*

Extensive knowledge in practices/standards/sensitivities for precision sensor pointing, stabilization, fusion, tracking, and feedback control

*

Extensive knowledge of Navigation algorithm/solutions including integration of GPS and alternate-sensor hardware aiding

*

Experience with modeling and control of high-speed aerodynamic and power plant/propulsion systems

* Excellent root-cause analysis and debugging skills from live and/or simulated flight data

* Excellent people skills, with experience leading and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.

*

Willingness to be (or become) a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for functional area topics

*

Willingness and desire to train less experienced GNC engineers via mentoring and/or technically focused training sessions

* Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation)
