Position Overview

The Platform Engineer job family develops and maintains desktop, mobile device, server, network, and code deployment infrastructure for the enterprise. Platform engineers must ensure reliable, performant and cost-effective capabilities to run business software.
Platform Engineers must understand current and future technical platforms from the hardware, operating system, communications, security, and system services layers. They are responsible to plan, design, and build the standard platforms for the company.

Key Responsibilities

* Install, customize, develop, implement and maintain computer/network systems developed internally and/or in conjunction with outside vendors

* Assist project teams and business customers in evaluating, developing, implementing and supporting system architecture components

* Decompose business requirements and translate them into detailed design specifications and then into infrastructure code

* Build solutions that utilize enterprise monitoring/logging, are “self-healing” and require minimal to zero maintenance

* Deliver and implement a standard software hosting environment based on knowledge of best practices

* Ensure infrastructure is patched and secured as per policies and modern best-practices

* Participate in system testing and test and implement system components using techniques that preserve system integrity

* Assure functional and technical integrity of systems and ensure that system software is functionally appropriate, technically sound and integrated

* Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies
* Respond immediately to production system and environment problems and proactively lead cross-functional problem resolution with minimal supervision for problems of medium complexity and moderate risk

* Analyze trends to proactively prevent problems
* Document and communicate assigned work, progress and problems to immediate project team, and management

* Participate in developing time estimates for project schedules and keep project plans updated as required

* Support the organization’s project management policy, practice and methodology

* Participate and engage with the appropriate matrix areas for the construction and delivery of solutions

* Interact with business customers as defined by project objectives and maintain focus on internal and external customer requirements

* Provide input to budgets and perform technical cost-benefit analysis
* Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

* Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of professional work experience and education

* 3 years’ work experience in Engineering or Information Technology
* Is proficient in the required desktop technologies such as Windows, MS office, SCCM, MDM

* Deliver and implement a standard software packaging and deployment based on knowledge of best practices

* Ability to independently perform troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, solution development and implementation for problems of medium complexity

* Proficient knowledge of computer/network systems hardware and software theory, practice, concepts, and technology

* Be knowledgeable of the Software Development & Deployment Life Cycle process and actively participate in it

* Ability to create knowledge documents for use in training operations personnel on the deployment, support and maintenance of environments and platforms

* Ability to support critical backend systems and environments
* Understands and is able to document the core business processes involved in the project or technical area

* Proficient knowledge across technical/business environments
* Ability to manage projects using the organization’s project management methodology

* Excellent partnering, negotiation, and communication skills
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based, customer-service-oriented environment

* Ability to review technical work of others/coach
* Ability to complete tasks with minimal direction

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems
* Knowledge of TCP/IP networking technologies and fundamentals
* Experience in managing alternate client operating systems, such as Mac OS, IOS, and Android

* 2+ years of professional experience in enterprise client device management
