As an Operator Self Verification (OSV) Quality Auditor in Moog’s Aircraft Group you can expect to:

Assess risk in various manufacturing processes by assessing process inputs of man, material, machine, method, measurement, and environment. Investigations into unwanted variation of these process inputs has a direct impact on the uniformity and conformity of product to Moog’s engineering specifications. In a collaborative manner, the auditor exercises problem solving and interpersonal skills, to directly make process improvements.

Primary responsibilities are to plan, provide and execute audits of, training for and technical assistance to production and development Operators. Responsibilities also include the audit of production and development processes, and the support of Lean initiatives.

In performing the Audit function, the incumbent observes the activities of authorized operators and sample inspects their results as a means to ensure parts and/or assemblies are manufactured to specifications. The incumbent will also verify that work instructions and engineering procedures are adequate and adhered to, and that gaging requirements and techniques are appropriate for the operation. Strong interpersonal skills and self-motivation are required to effectively perform audits and motivate personnel to perform to the high expectations of the workmanship standards. The Auditor may also provide system audit support on various processes and operating procedures relative to Business Systems and is expected to be involved in high level problem solving and continuous improvement activities in a team environment.

The incumbent provides technical guidance relative to interpretation and application of complex engineering drawings, work instructions, assembly techniques, nonstandard inspection techniques, unique gaging and test equipment application, and performing formal training of personnel relative to inspection, SPC techniques, Key characteristics, standard operating procedures and workmanship standards.

Here’s what you’ll work on:

Plan and perform audits in accordance with the OSV Process as a means to determine process effectiveness; operator and technician competency; and the ability of the operator to produce conforming parts to gain maintain authority to inspect their own work.

Provide assistance and support with Business Systems and product audits when necessary.

*

Sample inspect parts during audits using inspection techniques and layouts of varying complexity.

*

Provide assistance to production management and operators to ensure workmanship standards are met.

*

Provide assistance for all engineering disciplines to support improvement and investigative activities.

*

Support analytical and statistical applications by assisting production employees involved in control charting activities and identifying potential sources of variation.

*

Assist in problem solving activities to provide evaluation support for identified nonconformities.

*

Assist in the training operators to Quality procedures and inspection techniques.

*

Proficiency in the use and understanding of measuring and test equipment.

*

Report issues and improvement opportunities to responsible Engineers and Management

Qualifications:

*

Associates degree (vocational, professional, or advanced) In a Technological field. Successful completion of external technical education and training (e.g. Completion of an Apprenticeship program) may be evaluated and count as equivalency of a Technical Associates Degree.

*

Five years (5) of progressive experience (usually post-education) in the operation of precision machines and/or assembly and test processes.

*

Other relevant qualifications: Practical experience and technical knowledge of a wide variety of gages, measuring and test equipment used in inspection of precision machined parts, approval of new fixturing and tooling, understand and provide guidance for Acceptance Test requirements.
