JOB SUMMARY

Provide IT technical support including applications development for 24/7 Network Operations Center/Maintenance Control Center (NOC/MCC) in order to enable mission control situational awareness, defect identification and planning of corrective actions. Ensure continuity and reliability of ongoing technical/interface applications and operation.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

* Develop and configure NOC/MCC applications to include all internal global communications measuring and monitoring tools and satellite communication ground network. Insure that systems are in compliance with service level agreements, high availability/fault tolerance expectations and business/continuity/disaster recovery requirements.
* Support OEM, retrofit and repair facilities to ensure system reliability meets contractual terms.
* Lead, coordinate and participate in key process improvement initiatives to support business continuity and reliability of system infrastructure. Develops recommendations and executes systems solutions for enhancing current processes.
* Leads and participates in application development teams in response to upgrades, enhancements or new customer requirements.
* Supervise the implementation of server upgrades, maintenance fixes and vendor-supplied patches.
* Manage installation, configuration, and maintenance of ground network equipment?
* Define and perform system backups and recovery procedures to ensure full data retrieval.
* Analyze, monitor, document and trouble shoot business processes for optimal system performance, compliance with customer requirements and management awareness.

CUSTOMER SUPPORT

* Respond to escalated trouble tickets in a timely fashion and in compliance with NOC/MCC standards.

OTHER SUPPORT

* Create and maintain system technical documentation in alignment with Panasonic Avionics Corporation standards. Provide technical IT documentation to support proposal development process.
* Develop, document, and communicate business requirements and procedures to IT staff and management.
* Develop and maintain Technical Specialist knowledge database in accordance with contractual commitments.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

* Fully proficient in UNIX operating systems administration including Red Hat Linux, Ubuntu & Solaris
* Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in UNIX and Microsoft highly desirable
* Strong understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
* Excellent verbal/interpersonal, written, presentation and customer relationship communication skills.
* Demonstrable success applying IT application development skills to develop required tools and applications in order to facilitate organizations maintaining network/satellite systems (preferably cabin avionics).
* Knowledge of network and communications systems component monitoring and diagnosing tools.
* Project management skills.
* Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
* Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may provide guidance to junior staff.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

* 4-Year Degree with a Technical Major, such as Engineering or Computer Science
* 5+ years relevant IT/Development experience
* 3-5 years experience with UNIX operating systems administration including Red Hat Linux, Ubuntu & Solaris
* Specific Network Operations Center and 24/7 call center experience preferred

Cellular and satellite communication experience highly desired
