Location Profile:
Located in Woodinville Washington, University Swaging is a leading supplier of structural and kinematic control rod assemblies, flight control mechanisms, and swaged cable assemblies to the global aerospace industry. Founded in 1947, University Swaging was acquired by Precision Castparts - Airframe Segment in 2011.

Position Summary:
Candidates for NDT Inspector will possess the skills and knowledge to perform all the duties of a trainee and can also independently inspect parts, make evaluations, perform required process tests and document results. Selected candidates will be expected to perform evaluations on parts produced using fluorescent magnetic particle inspection (MAG) to determine and detect defects that may compromise the integrity or quality of the part.

Candidates must be self-disciplined and self-motivated individuals with strong accountability (attention to details) skills. Candidates must have the ability and desire to be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced production environment, be resourceful and innovative along with presenting a strong business ethic and compliance to leadership and company policies, and a good communicator with the ability to represent the company in a positive manner.

Candidates will be expected to perform a variety of tasks which include but are not limited to: non-inspection functions in preparation for inspections, performing specific calibrations, tests and evaluations on production aerospace parts and other tasks and training assigned by the Level 3 Inspector for further opportunity in advancing a career in NDT Inspection. As a condition of assignment, candidates may be expected to process product controlled under in International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). As such, these candidates may be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, Legal Permanent Residence or protected status as a Non-Citizen National of the U.S.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
• Examines parts under fluorescent or black lighting to detect surface defects under the direction of a Level 3 NDT Inspector using (MAG) Magnetic Particle Inspection.
• Reviews and assimilates work instructions relating to cleaning, etching, dwell/develop operations, inspection criteria, and record results.
• Provides detailed information concerning processing techniques, findings, evaluation of indications, and part condition/disposition recommendations.
• Sets up and calibrates equipment, conducts tests using equipment and interprets, evaluates, and documents inspection results.
• Performs receiving inspections (before processing) as needed and immediately reports any damage or discrepancy.
• Performs other assigned non-inspection functions such as racking, masking or cleaning of production parts
• Assists with (and perform as required) internal and external system audits, and CAPA (Corrective Action/Preventative Action) implementation.
• Works closely with inspectors in areas of leadership to complete work and prioritize tasks.
• Cleans, organizes and maintains work area as prescribed by supervision.
• Will require use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during certain tasks (goggles, safety glasses, aprons, boots, gloves, hearing protection, etc.) and be expected to comply with safety directives and policy.
• Will be exposed to chemicals/solvents and occasional fumes, wet/humid conditions, low-level lighting, and moderate noise level.
• Will, at times require heavy lifting or use of mechanical hoist for the aid in lifting objects.

Required Skills:
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and peripheral vision. The ability to successfully pass a Jaeger eye exam with corrected or uncorrected vision.
• Familiarity of codes, standards, and specification such as NAS 410, BSS 7698 and BAERD GEN-012.
• Blueprint reading and interpretation skills pertaining to aerospace production detail parts and sub-assemblies.
• Basic mathematic skills: add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods with limited movement.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work alone or as a member of a team, good cooperative skills.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English. Specifically, applicants must be able to read and understand written or verbal instructions.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast paced and changing environment with multiple priorities.

Required Experience:
• 32 hours formal training in either FPI or MAG inspection

Level of Education:
• General Standard education including the ability to read and write in English.
