Otis Elevator Company, the world’s largest company in the manufacture, maintenance and service of elevators, escalators, moving walkways, and other horizontal transportation systems, has an engineering intern opportunity available at their Service Center. We are looking for organized self-starters with technical backgrounds or aptitude who are interested in careers in the elevator industry.

The selected candidate will, implement material & parts tests with focus on data collection & analysis. Setup, maintain, adjust & repair mechanical test rigs & data collection equipment as needed. The candidate may have an opportunity to carry out, with guidance from senior staff, the complete product development cycle to design, test, select & implement selected materials & parts/tools for use by our field organization. The individual will perform some mechanical design & strength analysis of elevator parts & service tools. Document & implement selected new materials & parts/tools into the Otis technical data & inventory systems. Candidate will be expected to communicate & work with various Field office personnel, Supply Management department & external suppliers to gather information, set up field tests & minimize any impact or supply interruption of approved products to our field force. This position has substantial documentation, data analysis and technical writing, work studies, organizational skills, and have a direct impact on process improvements.

*Education / Certifications

Candidates should have earned or should be working towards completion of requirements for a degree of BSME or MSME & should have an interest in design/development type work.

Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0

*Experience / Qualifications

The selected candidate will demonstrate:
Superior organizational & technical communication skills; Technical writing skills to create process instructions & present test results. Experience with data collection procedures & test equipment. The candidate should be prepared to perform multiple projects in a fast paced atmosphere. Computer skills including working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Word & Excel are required. Inclination towards hands-on type work is a big plus
