PURPOSE

We are actively seeking a Mechanical Engineer, the successful candidate will focus on the designing and developing engineering solutions across the whole development lifecycle in accordance with customer requirements and business needs, whilst meeting agreed technical, quality, cost and schedule requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

·Capture and define customer requirements through a structured approach

·Construct and methodically implement engineering solutions including detailed design, contribution to technical reviews and performance optimisation

·Ensure design conforms to all aspects of technical and quality requirements by following robust configuration control, review and change management processes

·Develop strong working relationships across multiple departments and skills sets

·Generate, perform and validate material/product tests

·Establish and mitigate technical risks through the development process

·Present and communicate technical challenges/solutions to both internal and external customers

·Contribute towards the professional content and timely production of bid proposals

·Contribute to continual process improvement, in support of the company business and strategic objectives

REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

·Bachelors Degree qualified - mechanical or aerospace engineering/design

·Minimum of ten years’ experience gained within an engineering industry, including a minimum of five in Aerospace

·Experience or awareness of robust New Product Introduction (NPI) techniques

·Expert knowledge of electro-mechanical design

·Expertise in metal joining design e.g. Welding/Brazing

·Strong problem solving abilities

·Methodical approach with excellent attention to detail

·Able to work well with team and across disciplines and levels

·Able to interact effectively with customers

·Understand and apply technical risk management techniques

·Good organizational and mentoring skills

·Confident CAD user

·Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to maintain clear and accurate records and provide concise reports

·Proficient with the use of the Microsoft Office tools

·Ability to develop new design features

·Ability to ‘think on your feet’ to allow fast decision making

·Ability to identify creative solutions to complex problems

·Pro-active working style in both team and individual environment

·Comfortable in customer facing position

·Willing and able to provide commitments and follow these through to completion

·Personable / approachable / considerate / Pragmatic

·Ability to learn new skills and procedures
