Position Description:

At AMETEK, you’ll work in a small, team-based environment, while enjoying the support and opportunities of a large, international corporation.

New Product Development
• Design, build, test and evaluate mechanical subassemblies, products and systems to meet the performance, cost and scheduling requirements as defined by the customer and the company’s goals.
• Design mechanical components, systems and products using SolidWorks (or equivalent) solid modeling software and provide detailed design guidance/recommendations as needed.
• Integrate subassemblies into prototype units; support continuing product development, test, system verification, and validation, throughout the development process and into production release.
• Review new designs and define the manufacturing operational sequence, and determine rates (pieces / hour, hours) for each sequence step.

Sustaining Engineering
• Resolve product nonconformance issues; implement product and process improvement/cost reduction initiatives
• Create and maintain engineering drawings, structuring of items, bills of material, ECNs and routings.
• Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
• Assist QA and Operations departments in determining disposition of rejected parts and material.
• Work closely with production departments to resolve manufacturing problems and provide assistance.
• Create assembly work instructions when needed.

Sales and Customer Support
• Support sales process from inquiry to quotation and through product release. Provide timely product and technical information to Customer Service team and to existing and potential customers.
• Enter and maintain sales leads/opportunities in Salesforce.
• Estimate production times, labor requirements, and related costs to determine sales price for small- to medium-sized opportunities.
• Provide guidance and recommendations for management review of sales opportunities with substantial size and value to the company.
• Serves as technical product expert and primary account representative during customer site visits and design reviews.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering required
• 3-5 years’ experience in mechanical or electromechanical design.
• 3-D CAD software is required (preferably SolidWorks).
• Familiarity with machining, fabricating, injection molding and assembly. Candidate will need to apply knowledge in these areas to make design decisions and to determine manufacturability.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with ERP software would be beneficial (preferably Oracle).
• Hands-on problem-solving skills with the ability to interact effectively with management, engineering staff, floor personnel and cross-functional team members to implement plans and recommendations.
• Experience in working with NRTLs (UL, Intertek, CSA) is a plus.
• Intermittent travel may be required.
