Job Description

Position Summary

The position is key to the manufacturing job release process, responsibilities will include:

* Review and linkage of Customer Purchase Order flow down requirements to job
* Bill of Operations review, creation/update of manufacturing notes
* Bill of Materials review and allocation of raw material to job
* Verify availability of NC program and supporting Process Control Instructions for Job
* Creation and update of standards for Manufacturing and Quality
* Creation and update of standards for Outside Processing and preferred suppliers
* Work with engineering to update approved Bill of Material and Bill of Operation as required
* Submit deviations for Bill of Material and Bill of Operations
* Review opportunities to rework existing parts or use slow or nonmoving raw material
* The engineer will also work on projects to increase product quality, increase productivity, and long term improvements that will improve the manufacturing area as a whole.

Primary Responsibilities

* Review and release manufacturing jobs to support on time production and manufacturing of parts.
* Ensure approved engineering planning is consistent with manufacturing practices.
* Work to implement “best practices” for planning across all parts
* Support shop processes, mechanical design/assembly, and documentation of shop processes.
* Evaluate key manufacturing processes, flow and implementation of new technology to increase production and quality. Manage projects, conduct prototypes and run experiments to support activity.
* Conceptualize, design and implement automated manufacturing techniques by soliciting and evaluating input from customers, industry experts, vendors/suppliers and publications.

Minimum Education or Experience

* B.S. Manufacturing Engineering or/ B.S in an Engineering Discipline required
* Experienced use of MRP systems for creation/editing of Bill of Material s and Bill of Operations, preferable Vantage or Epicor.
* Knowledge of 6S, Lean, TOC and Six Sigma preferred.
* Technical Writing ability to communicate ideas effectively.
* Broad knowledge of the manufacturing process and knowledge of using MRP to support production and manufacturing.

Other Qualifications

* Competency in MS office applications required.
* Competency in CAD software, preferable SolidWorks.
* CNC Turning/Milling experience preferred.
