Overview

This position is responsible for leading the strategic component sourcing and repair activities for Global Aviation Technical Solutions (GATS), with the goal of achieving significant reductions in total cost of ownership. GATS, is a Joint venture of Atlas Air, Inc. and Cargolux International Airlines (‘the Partners”), and coordinates the repair management and logistics for B747-8 aircraft components. In addition, the position strives to deliver year-over-year productivity improvements while maintaining or improving service levels and reliability. The Manager works closely with GATS management team and Atlas Material team in corporate functions to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans.

Responsibilities

* Responsible for managing the sourcing activities for all material and repair related activities of GATS.
* Manages and implements in coordination with GATS management team, the process of selection, negotiation and contract execution for all GATS vendors.
* Establishes metrics used to track vendor performance and proactively monitors strategy implementation and contract compliance of the GATS repair vendor base.
* Manages vendor compliance with government regulations and GATS Quality Assurance standards, as well as the Partner airlines serviced by GATS.
* Schedules and chairs performance review meetings with vendors and internal customer and measures internal satisfaction with vendor(s) performance.
* Provides quarterly feedback and status of Procurement activities to the GATS Board of Directors.
* Acts when necessary, as the escalation point between GATS and component repair vendors in seeking timely and beneficial solutions to disputes or other contractual issues.
* Tracks and coordinates external audits from Quality Assurance, Internal Auditing, as necessary.
* Monitors marketplace in staying abreast of new suppliers and service offerings
* Takes advantage of available training and educational resources to improve functional skills and knowledge
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* BA with procurement experience required. MBA preferred
* Successful, multi-year track record in a procurement organization or management position
* Specific industry experience strongly preferred
* Experienced in Supplier RFI and RFP processes
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills – able to construct/execute multiple complex analyses (e.g TCO, NPV; cost-price analyses) simultaneously
* Good planning/project management skills
* Strong negotiating skills
* Proficiency in IT systems including WORD, EXCEL and PowerPoint
* Good written and verbal skills
* Ability to lead and work with interdepartmental teams
* Ability to multitask and coordinate time sensitive duties
