Compass Airlines is seeking a Manager FL Tops Standards to join our team at our Minneapolis, Minnesota – Headquarters location. We are looking for an innovative and technical individual, with exceptional business judgment, as well as the initiative and competence to make a significant contribution to the Compass organization.

Job Purpose:

The Manager, FLTOPS Standards paramount responsibility is to evaluate overall and individual pilot standardization and compliance with Compass Airline’s standard operating procedures and practices. This involves the leadership of a staff of IOE Check Airmen and Aircrew Program Designee’s (APD’s) all focused on ensuring company pilots are safe, competent and knowledgeable.

Job Qualifications:

Required:

*

Legal to work in the United States (A citizen or national of the United States, a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work).

* Hold a valid passport that allows for multiple entries into the United States.

Education:

* Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience in an aviation field.

Experience

Required:

* Pilot with a part 121/135 air carrier.

* Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

* Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to read, write and speak fluently in the English language.

* Previous Check Airman experience.

Preferred:

* 1 year experience as a Captain with a part 121/135 air carrier.

* Previous simulator instructor or Check Airmen experience with a part 121/135 carrier or part 142 training center.

* Previous supervisory experience.

*

Previous Aircrew Program Designee (APD) experience.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

*

Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with Multi-Engine Land Rating required.

*

E170/190 Type Rating preferred.

Physical Demands:

*

Ability to lift, carry and move light to medium weight of 10 – 30 pounds.

*

There are prolonged periods during which this position requires working seated at a desk or workstation.

* IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) Program

* Department of Defense (DoD) Audits

* Safety Management System (SMS)

Job Specifics:

* Direct oversight of the Procedures Supervisor.

* Direct oversight of the Aircrew Program Designees.

* Direct oversight of the Line Check Airman

* Serves as an inter-departmental liaison and aircraft systems subject matter expert within the company for flight operations issues related to his specific aircraft type(s).

* Evaluates, recommends and manages operational fleet programs/projects designed to improve the safety, efficiency or utilization of his specific aircraft type(s), or as required to maintain regulatory compliance.

* Works in cooperation with the Training and the Safety Departments, including ASAP and FOQA, to develop and implement corrective action plans to address negative trends in pilot performance.

* Work in cooperation with the Training Department to develop and implement corrective action plans to address negative trends in pilot performance.

* Represents the Company’s Flight Operations department at industry meetings, conferences and other events.

* Provide on-call assistance with issues involving operational control to ensure flights are conducted in accordance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, Operations Specifications, and company policies and procedures.

* Performs on-call duty rotations as needed for handling calls to SOC for issues requiring Management Pilot assistance.

* Monitors the conduct of Compass Airlines Pilot Training Programs and provides feedback to the Director of Operations.

* Participate in company working groups as assigned, such as the Training Review Board, Flight Standards Advisory Board, Training Council, Emergency Response Team, FOQA and the ASAP Event Review Committee.

* Lead assigned portions of instructor/check airmen meetings to include target areas for focus and improvement in pilot performance.

* Works in cooperation with the Training Department on the development and revision of IRR scenarios simulator scripts, LOFT’s and LOE’s based on feedback received from sources within the company, the FAA and his/her own direct observations.

* Determines adequate staffing level and budget for Line Check Airmen in coordination with the Supervisor of Standards, Crew Planning, and Crew Scheduling.

* Maintains qualification and perform duties as a Compass Airline’s Pilot, Instructor, Check Airmen, and APD.

* Performs airplane ferrying and positioning flights as assigned.

Work Environment:

*

Position is based in Minneapolis, MN.

*

Work is performed in an office environment, and occasionally in a classroom, simulator, or an open work environment (ramp).

*

Normal schedule is Monday-Friday during business hours with night and weekend schedules as required.

*

Travel throughout the domestic United States, and internationally is required.
