Role Summary:
The Cleanroom Electronic Engineering Technician performs a variety of complex tasks in the design, development, modification, troubleshooting and testing of products. Works from general instructions and technical specifications; applies technical knowledge to assist engineering in the development of new products. This position will involve hands-on works on semiconductor device processing in a cleanroom environment.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Work on the near-final or final assembly of an electronic modules for electronic power conversion and control product development
• Measure components and electronic products with destructive and non-destructive testing to determine failures and optimize processes
• Inspect products to ensure they are well-versed in company quality-control processes and product non-conformance standards
• Perform operational maintenance of utility systems and equipment and monitor the usage of consumables in cleanroom
• Commit to production schedules and deadlines

The Cleanroom Electronic Engineering Technician demonstrates flexibility in multi-task and dexterity to electronic assembly at GE Aviation Power Conversion & Control business segment. In this role, you will use your experience and skills to support power module rapid prototyping and assist manufacturing processes optimization. You will also be responsible for troubleshooting problems with existing products and updating electronic assembly related documents.

Through work assignments, you will:

• Fabricate power electronic product from mechanical drawings and written documentation in a cleanroom environment with full cleanroom gowns, hair nets and surgical face masks
• Operate various processing equipment including die bonder, wire bonder, reflow oven, stencil printer, plasma cleaner, vacuum mixer, and ovens
• Program automated assembly robot such as bonder, dispenser, pick and place tool
• Take both destructive and non-destructive measurements using acoustic microscopy (CSAM), electrical curve tracer, pull-shear tester and other complex test equipment
• Interpret test results and communicate these results to engineers
• Perform failure analysis on the defective components or products
• Recognize defects within a component or products using inspection devices such as magnifying microscopy, CSAM and X-ray
• Maintain and update existing bills of materials, reference documents, and process travelers
• Provide day to day support to the production areas to ensure that the equipment and consumables are upkept
• Maintain a presence in the cleanroom to ensure orderly operations and to support keeping the facility clean
• Work closely with engineers to troubleshoot assembly problems and support product development
• Work as one team with other technicians and engineers

Qualifications/Requirements:
Requirements/Knowledge:

• Education Required:
o Associate’s degree or equivalent two-year degree from an accredited university or technical school

• Experience:
o 5+ years of electronics related experience in a cleanroom environment

• Skill Level Required:

o Must have an understanding of manufacturing process in cleanroom environment and be able to effectively trouble shoot problems
o Knowledge of the operation and uses of process equipment including die bonder, wire bonder, stencil printer, and soldering system
o Knowledge of Advanced Electronic Test and Troubleshooting techniques to component level
o Basic materials knowledge of solder preform/solder paste, conductors, dielectrics, adhesives (conductive, non-conductive), silicone potting
o Ability to work in a cleanroom environment for extended periods of time
o Ability to perform basic mathematics calculations
o Ability to maintain cleanroom and equipment at operating levels
o Should possess dexterity skills, good hand & eye condition

Desired Characteristics:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering related field
• Hand and machine soldering experience includes reflow oven profiling, soldering atmosphere knowledge, manual/automated rework processes
• Inspection experience includes electrical probe testing, X-ray, Acoustic microscopy (CSAM)
• Aware of electrostatic discharge (EDS) precautions cleanroom experience
• Aware of Cleanroom operating and maintenance protocol
• Automated assembly robot programming: wire bonder, pick and place, automated dispense
