Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Fan & Low Pressure Compressor (LPC) Design Manager. The position requires broad expertise in the mechanical design, development, and production/field support of Fan/LPC turbo-machinery, as well as validated skills in the technical management. This is a technical supervisor position where you, along with a deputy manager, will lead the design team administratively and technically. You will be responsible for integration with the CIPT, partners, mating modules and system design disciplines in execution of design tasks supporting commercial engine products. The associate in this position will have exceptional people and problem solving skills and be able to effectively communicate upward in the organization.

Responsibilities Include:

* Strong leadership as part of CIPT, enabling design discipline strength and execution of CIPT shared vision.
* Organizing and leading task assignments, including CIPT Design task planning, manpower requirements and coordinating in-house and outsource resources.
* Performance feedback and results for the group. Coach, train and develop junior design engineers. Develop and approve proficiency advancement of personnel.
* Cradle-to-grave design leadership, from preliminary through detailed design, development, validation, certification, manufacturing and operational service, driving team to meet CIPT and Program goals.
* Provide design leadership for in service field investigations.
* Provide leadership for multidiscipline teams to provide design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost and weight.
* Ensure Outsourcing work is completed, reviewed and approved by design associates with appropriate proficiency level.
* Coordinate with other groups to read across lessons learned, advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods.
* Documentation and communication of results to management.
* Serve as chair of Design Reviews. Possess highly developed interpersonal, leadership, teaming and problem solving skills. Significant interaction with executives, internal and external customers is expected. Communication skills and assertiveness are key qualities to possess. Strong collaboration skills with manufacturing and the engineering team are required.

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering.
* 10+ years of Mechanical Design Engineering experience.
* US Citizenship due to government contracts

Preferred Qualifications:

* M.S. degree in Mechanical engineering preferred
* Demonstrated skill in leading and managing a technical team
* .Proven demonstration of risk-based decision-making, analytical skills, business discernment and professional maturity.
