This role goes beyond that, coordinating complex business relationships between engineering and other departments in the development of new products and services. Our engineering business development manager assists in the creation and maintenance of our product roadmap and is a repository of knowledge associated with these plans. We are looking for an Engineering Business Development Manager for our Aviation Business Segment located at our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role, you will lead the growth and development of Aircraft Connectivity products and services by coordinating complex business relationships in the development of new technologies, products and services pertaining to connected services. Other essential functions include:

Contribute to the development and refinement of Garmin’s vision and strategy

Balance business and technical acumen to evaluate new technologies and product development of avionics equipment and services

Lead the development of relationships with partners and providers offering key components, content, technologies, and intellectual property, negotiate business terms and expectations for these relationships and coordinate with internal departments to finalize formal agreements with providers

*
Coordinate with other departments within Garmin to ensure the requirements of these relationships are met including coordinating business development meetings, compiling meeting notes and actions and following up with assigned resources

Research, evaluate and identify opportunities for strategic partnerships, mergers and acquisitions

*
Recognize and champion development of key competitive differentiators for existing and new Garmin products based on competitive analysis, technical research and development studies

*
Effectively represents Garmin among industry partners, peer groups and regulatory agencies as required

*
Capturing key messages associated with new products and ensure they are incorporated in the marketing effort

*
Assist in the creation and maintenance of product roadmaps

*
Participate in evaluation of proposed and ongoing projects/programs

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering, Business or Marketing field from a four-year college or university, or a minimum of 10 years’ experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description.

Demonstrate a successful track record in managing exceedingly complex problems and providing successful solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious

Candidates with experience working in the Aviation OEM, Aviation Aftermarket, and/or Military Aviation field with an expertise in Aircraft Connectivity Products and Services such as Satcom, Ground Based and On-Board connected technologies and application services are highly desired!
