Job Description

Summary Statement:
Applies extensive knowledge of principles, theories and concepts and industry practices and standards related to the design, development, testing, manufacturing and certification of aircraft structures, component parts and related component systems and subsystems for operational aircraft.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
Develops solutions to a variety of complex or unusual problems or assignments requiring independent judgment and ingenuity. Originates and/or modifies engineering protocols related to the design and development of aircraft structures, power plant component parts, mechanical and electrical systems and subsystems for commercial, military, executive, general aviation, or special purpose applications on operational aircraft.

Conducts analytical studies on engineering proposals to develop design for products. Analyzes research data and proposed product specifications to determine feasibility of product proposal. Confers with research personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develops design.

Designs and develops structural, power plant and other operational and structural components that are use in operating aircraft. This includes producing or computer aided drawings and engineering reports.

Designs and develops analytical programs concerned with ground or flight testing, or development of acoustic, thermodynamic, or propulsion systems.

Tests models, prototypes, subassemblies, or production items to study and evaluate operational characteristics and effects of stress imposed during actual or simulated operational conditions.

May function as Project Manager on large projects or significant portions of very large projects. Provides technical leadership and oversight to the assigned engineering staff. May function as the single point of contact for customers on assigned projects.

Represents the Company to current customers or vendors on technical matters related to the job assignment or technical specialty.

Ancillary Functions and Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Formal Education, Training, Professional Certification and Work Experience:
Experience may be substituted for the formal education and training requirements in this section at the discretion of management. Technical Bachelor level degree in Engineering or the sciences or equivalent and six (6) plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Level of Supervision Required:
The level of supervision required described here is representative of that which must be met by a Stakeholder to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Works under general direction. Receives guidance as to results expected and to resolve complex problems. Exercises latitude in determining activities and approaches within moderate to wide parameters.

Communication and Special Skills:
Communicate effectively using electronic media and in written and verbal forms. Make telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel and make formal presentations to small or large groups. Competent in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

Special Training and Behavioral Competencies:
The following training requirements and competencies must be met before acceding to this job.

* Professional Engineer Certification preferred.
* Safety training applicable to the job and work area.
* Complete the required NORDAM University training for all Stakeholders.
* Comply with The NORDAM Group Leadership Competencies for Stakeholders.
* Ability and willingness to assist and transfer technical knowledge to less experienced Stakeholders.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is frequently required to sit and talk and hear. The Stakeholder is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Stakeholder must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to travel between facilities and operate standard office equipment. Work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week as required. Must be able to ascend and descend stairs.

While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
