Our Space & Defense Group Niagara Falls, NY is hiring for a Engineering Design, Rocket Propulsion and Systems.

Moog Space and Defense Group is seeing sustainable growth across many of our business segments. This growth is creating needs for Associate Design Engineer to support our technical teams in the design, development and verification of new products to meet our demanding customer requirements. Products that we are developing include fluid control devices for missile defense thrusters, strategic missile engines, launch vehicle engines, spacecraft thrusters, manned space environmental control and life support systems.

The Design Engineering Associate will work closely with other engineers, collectively developing thoughts and sketches into conceptual layouts, solid models, drawings, and schematics in support of development and product design. The person in this specific role will be involved with the conceptual design and drawing creation for the in-space rocket engines, propellant tanks and propulsion systems. Tasks include organization and planning of the number and types of drawings, part selection, parts lists generation, developing complex design layouts and related packaging support documentation.

The incumbent is responsible for performing Tolerance Analysis in conjunction with utilization of GD&T methodologies to meet both design, manufacturing, and inspection requirements. Person must also have a working knowledge of configuration management control of product design.

Minimum Requirements to be considered…

Bachelor of Technology Degree in Mechanical plus two to three years of design experience.

A suitable alternative is an Associate’s degree with demonstrated exceptional performance as a Design Draftsman with 10 years of experience that has gained the incumbent seasoned knowledge of mechanical hardware design and packaging them in difficult customer defined envelopes.

Knowledge of machine shop practices, part fabrication methods, mathematics through descriptive geometry, dimensioning techniques, and geometric Tolerancing. Knowledge of mechanical design engineering principles such as properties and strength of materials as well as stress and thermal effects is also required.

Self‑starting instincts and the ability to utilize and quickly learn advanced design and/or analysis techniques. Communication skills suitable for effective oral and written dealings with the technical community including customers and vendors are required. In addition the Design Engineering Associate should possess strong creative and investigative skills, be well structured and organized and have the ability to coordinate multiple activities.

Experience and in-depth knowledge in utilization of Siemens NX Mcad design software and PTC Creo Mcad software is strongly desirable.
