Position Description:

Lead motor engineer responsible for developing new platform and derivative magnetic designs for slotted and slotless PM BLDC fractional and sub-fractional motors, directing the technical team in creation of documentation, test and production release.

Familiar with peripheral components; encoders, gearboxes, commutation options, brakes, bearings, motor insulation systems, and winding manufacturing.

Flexible development environment with latitude to explore and propose new motor topologies and opportunity to grow technically and professionally.

Applies expertise and initiative and available resources to ensure that product designs are proper for the applications, well-conceived, adequately documented and sufficiently tested to provide consistent, quality products to our customers.

While specializing in a particular technical area, will have the project management capability and skills to provide technical coordination and support for a wide variety of products.

Apply basic engineering principles and analysis to the resolution of technical problems; perform development, design and analysis of new products; provide design and validation testing for all new products; interpret design results and data; make independent judgements as to their validity.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Engineering or seven to ten years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience

Proficient in SolidWorks 3D, Infolytica MagNet and/or MotorSolve BLDC or similar modeling software.

Comfortable collaborating (email, phone, Skype) with customers, suppliers, sales, and internal departments on site and remote.

Familiar with BLDC drives, motor testing and manufacturing methods.

Capable of balancing multiple projects using proprietary project database and NPI process.

Thorough understanding of design procedures; the design, application, and selection of appropriate materials and technologies; confirmation that project requirements and specifications are met in a timely and cost effective manner.

The ability to make decisions quickly and effectively.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Domestic and international travel required.
