Safety & Compliance Director

Due to the continued and successful expansion of our client, a new and exciting cargo airline based at London Stansted, we are looking for a Safety & Compliance Director on a permanent basis.

Main Duties of the Director Safety & Compliance

  • Act as the focal point and be responsible for the development, administration and maintenance of an effective safety management system
  • Facilitate hazard identification, risk analysis and management
  • Monitor the implementation of actions taken to mitigate risks, as listed in the safety action plan
  • Provide periodic reports on safety performance
  • Ensure maintenance of safety management documentation
  • Ensure that there is safety management training available and that it meets acceptable standards
  • Provide advice on safety matters
  • Ensure initiation and follow-up of internal occurrence/accident investigations.
  • Construct and manage a system of Compliance assurance audits and inspections based on the Management System Manual using Centrik system.
  • Report on and discuss all matters relating to Compliance with the Accountable Manager
  • Carry out regular audits and inspections of all parts of the operation and sub contracted activitie
  • Along with senior personnel, periodically review the Compliance Management System to ensure that it is suitable to support the high operational standards required, ensuring that a planned approach is achieved. This review will form part of the Safety Review Board meeting agenda
  • Appoint auditors appropriate to the area and procedures to be audited and ensure they have adequate training and experience in the areas being audited by them.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Experience in providing advice on safety matters and carrying out audits
  • Developing and maintaining Safety Management Systems
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
