Maleth Aero is currently accepting applications for a Director of Flight Operations position based at its Head Office in Malta.

Overview

Reporting to the Accountable Manager, the Director Flight Operations (DFO) is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance and that the airline’s flight operations are conducted in a safe and efficient manner, in accordance with Transport Malta and company requirements. As such, the DFO will be referred to the Transport Malta Civil Aviation Directorate (TM CAD) for acceptance as Nominated Person - Flight Operations, and will be a member of the Senior Management Team.

The principal responsibility of the DFO is to take all possible and practicable steps to ensure the safety, security and efficient overall operation of all company aircraft. To this end the key duties & responsibilities of the role are:

  • Direct report to the Accountable Manager (Chief Executive Officer) on regulatory matters;
  • Compliance within the Flight Operations Department with company policy and legal requirements and to ensure compliance in accordance with ICAO, EASA and TM CAD Standards and Regulations;
  • The development, maintenance and documentation of procedures to ensure safe and efficient operation of all company aircraft
  • Responsible for the development, maintenance and currency of the Operations Manuals and responsible for the production of Notice to Aircrew and other operational documentation;
  • The preparation and management of the Flight Operations budget to ensure efficient and cost effective operations.
  • Responsible for the management and supervision of flight operations and crew training in accordance with regulatory requirements including and the development and checking of line standards across the fleet;
  • The selection and recruitment of all flight crew including the designation of aircraft commanders and training personnel in consultation with the Head of Training;
  • Ensure that any contracted services meet the required standard.

Requirements

  • Hold or have held an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL), and previous employment in an EASA regulatory environment;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of civil aviation regulations, standards and recommended practices (EASA, ICAO, IATA);
  • Minimum of 10 years’ aviation experience to include 5 years airline command experience;
  • Previous Post-holder / Nominated Person experience preferable;
  • Previous experience developing and managing departmental budgets;
  • Previous experience on the Boeing 737 or Embraer 145 aircraft preferred.
