DevelopmentCAM Technician

Position Description:

The Development Technician /CAM position will support the Product Development team by performing the duties of the Development Technician as well as using CAM processing software knowledge to support manufacturing orders and the AMETEK customer print file.
The Development Technician duties involves applying laser energy and sophisticated automation to precisely machine a wide range of materials to produce customer products with non-standard processes on machines, lasers, and tooling. The Development Technician works with Development Engineers and Operators to expedite the development of products, components and processes for new products and/or new customers. The CAM duties include processing modifications to customer CAD files to the specs of the Product Development Engineer and creating NC code using CAM processing software. This position also handles the day to day print requests and CAD files.

Position Requirements:

• High school degree or equivalent
• Experience with AutoCAD and SmartCAM or a CAD/CAM degree would be very beneficial
• Comprehensive troubleshooting knowledge of lasers and automated processing equipment including programming of PLC and process controllers.
• Must have the ability to draw prints in meticulous detail and look over prints for slight changes
• Must meet the requirements of Basic Drafting, Print Storage and Print Control skills
• Must be able to understand math concepts including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and handling calculations with up to 4 place decimal places.
• Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as work processing including Microsoft Office applications, managing files and records, and designing forms and procedures, including the effective use of relevant terminology.
• Should demonstrate the background or understanding of print control; including specifications, tolerances and product information on how this relates to prints.
• Must be able to work and communicate professionally and effectively with internal and external customers/suppliers using appropriate documentation
• Must be able to handle numerous projects while providing unexcelled levels of customer service (both internally and externally) and meeting deadlines.
• Proven performance with Engineering Feasibility, SPC, Process Capability, statistics, and math.
• Several years generating reports from database tools, such as Microsoft Office applications (MS Excel, Access, etc.) and working with network systems.
• Ability to read and understand intermediate level of instructions, such as job routing sheets, standard work instruction, and various visual aids.
• Ability to follow established procedure
• Possess good manual dexterity
• Professional and respectful interaction with other employees and supervisory personnel.
• Enjoys hands-on work, must be detail oriented and exhibit a high mechanical aptitude.
• Strong organizational skills
