Moog Inc, was founded in 1951 when Bill Moog had one product and a vision of company culture so strong that it became the foundation of the company that we are today. We operate within a culture of trust and mutual respect, allowing our engineers to collaborate and produce cutting edge technology, as well as aiding our business in the ability to share goals and achieve them together. Our lines of precision motion control technology can be seen at the forefront of military and commercial aircraft markets, space exploration, and oil and gas markets to name a few. As a Control System Engineer for Aircraft Test Equipment, you’ll be a primary motivator and contributor to the analysis, conceptual design, development, and testing of complex equipment used to test military and commercial aircraft motion control components and actuators. Most new applications require a special, tailored design, even though adaptation of existing designs always should be considered where appropriate. As a Control System Engineer you will… * Work with internal and external customers to develop and refine system requirements * Conceptualize, model and design computer controlled mechanical/hydraulic test rigs * Develop system models of the test equipment and actuators using MATLAB, Simulink, and AMESIM, and integrate them on computerized test consoles * Define automated testing scripts for electro/hydro/mechanical actuators and controllers using MATLAB and/or Python * Analyze actuator control requirements and design PID or alternate control schemes to test the actuator performance in a production environment in the same manner it is used on target aircraft * Analyze / characterize control scheme gains and stability. Tune controls to achieve necessary dynamic performance * Develop architecture documents and system integration and testing plans and procedures Minimum qualifications to be considered… * Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering, preferably an advanced degree with Controls Engineering focus * 6+ years of experience with design, modelling, analysis, and development of complex electro-hydraulic, electro-mechanical, or electro-pneumatic servo-mechanisms for mechanical and hydraulic test rigs * A proven record of successful development programs working as a part of a project team * Experience in the areas of requirements definition, control system design and tuning, integration, V&V, modeling & simulation * Experience in off-the-shelf real-time systems such as dSPACE and National Instruments is a plus * Since this individual will often be seen by customers as the responsible technical representative of the company, you must be able to communicate fluently to a wide variety of audiences * Due to certain military programs, US citizenship is required.
