Summary Statement:

Applies knowledge of basic production procedures to fabricate, assemble, clean and repair basic routine metal, composite, mechanical and electrical products partially or completely, working at bench or on the shop floor.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

Performs routine developmental learning assignments and applies standard solutions to problems or work situations of a routine or repetitive nature. May perform a variety of routine duties related to any work operation in the repair of company and customer products as required.

Assists in the repair, replacement, and rebuilding of aircraft operational mechanical systems, components and structures including rework and repair metallic or nonmetallic bonded parts for operational aircraft applications.

Disassembles and inspects parts for wear, warping, or other defects. Follows written or verbal instructions to determine sequence and methods of removal and installation of parts and components of mechanical aircraft subsystems.

Uses hand tools to remove small quantities of metal with hand files and scrapers to produce close fit between parts. Operates drill motors, die grinders, rivet squeeze and other like tools to assist in assembly operation.

Assists in the lay out and marking of dimensions and reference lines on material to back drill hole patterns for access doors, installation or replacement of sheetmetal parts or other like applications. Trims to fit, file, grinds, deburrs, buffs, and smoothes surfaces.

Bolts, rivets, screws, clips, caulks, or bonds component parts to assemble products. Installs assemblies in supportive framework according to blueprints. Inspects assemblies and installation for conformance to specifications.

Completes and maintains necessary paperwork for documenting processes performed.

Ancillary Functions and Responsibilities:

Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Formal Education, Training and Work Experience:
Experience may be substituted for the formal education and training requirements in this section at the discretion of management. High School Diploma or GED and six (6) months of manufacturing or related experience preferred, but not required. Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, but not required. Must be able to use small hand tools and machinery.

Level of Supervision Required:
The level of supervision required described here is representative of that which must be met by a Stakeholder to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work is closely supervised and reviewed. Follows standard written or oral instructions. May need additional assistance for more complex tasks.

Special Skills, Licenses or Job Requirements:
Demonstrate competency in applying the following in performing normal job duties. Use of all common hand tools used by aircraft mechanics.

Special Training and Behavioral Competencies:

* Safety training as required by OSHA.
* Respirator training and certification in areas where required.
* (When required - Respirator training, certification and fit test and clean shaven at the respirator seal.
* Pulmonary function test is required.)
* Comply with The NORDAM Group Leadership Competencies for Stakeholders.
* Ability and willingness to assist and transfer technical knowledge to less experienced Stakeholders.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The Stakeholder frequently is required to stand, walk, and talk and hear. The Stakeholder is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Stakeholder must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Overtime is a requirement of the job. Must be able to work in excess of eight hours per day and five days per week.

While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The Stakeholder is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
