About the role:

This role is based in our Melbourne Head Office in Tullamarine and will report directly to the Director Safety Systems. The position is responsible for ensuring that WHS compliance is managed effectively. In addition, the successful applicant will manage the day to day WHS and Drug and Alcohol Management (DAMP) activities and requirements to meet legal and corporate compliance.

You will use your strong communication and interpersonal skills to actively engage and support Managers and Leaders, acting as a focal point, enabling compliance with statutory WHS obligations and continuous implementation & improvement of WHS processes and procedures

You proactively engage with our operational and corporate Leaders and Managers to help them to effectively apply the WHS Management System to their day-to-day business activities and you will facilitate safety related training.

About you:

Crucial to the success of this role will be the ability to quickly build strong and lasting relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. In addition to this:

* Experience in a similar role, particularly in an aviation or similar environment will make you stand out for this role

* Self-motivated, passionate about Safety, proven ability to communicate effectively to positively influence stakeholders about safety;

* Proof that you are an innovator, can investigate and analyse a problem/issue and pre-empt problems before they come to that stage;

* Thorough understanding of workplace health & safety regulations & environment, codes of practice and standards as well as best practice processes, theories and methodologies to back up your recommendations;

* A diploma in WHS or higher along with investigation training/qualification

* Demonstrated ability in the interpretation of legislative or other specified requirements to produce practical operational solutions.

* Collate DAMP data and performance reporting for Senior Management and regulatory authority;

* Prepare DAMP Key Performance indicators for risk committees;

* Maintain the DAMP manuals and training packages;

* Maintain random testing schedule for the airline;

* Maintain working knowledge of current relevant Federal/State regulations and legislation.
