Job Description

What You’ll Get to Do:

As a Windows Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

* Engineers and develops engineering solutions to customer requirements around Server 2008 R2, 2012 R2, and Server 2016 OS platforms.
* Analyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems, and review computer system capabilities, workflows, and makes recommendations. May analyze or recommend commercially-available software
* Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
* Tests, debugs, and assists in the refinement of system products
* Performs functional analysis on customer’s system configuration issues, and provides Tier 4 support to problem resolution, as required
* Conducts root-cause analysis of noted system performance issues
* Designs, implements and documents efficient procedures for the distribution and installation of changes to IT systems
* Prepares required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation
* Assists in establishing standards for and documenting information systems procedures
* Serves as a SME, on a rotational basis, in resolving trouble tickets that occur during off-duty hours.
* Handles other duties as assigned.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

* Microsoft certifications and/or skills with Server 2008R2, 2012R2, 2016 Operating Systems
* Demonstrated on-the-job experience with Global Windows Core Infrastructure Management (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, KMS and other Core Enterprise Services)
* Experience staging, piloting and fully deploying releases to an operational environment while maintaining the integrity of the existing production baseline
* Proven ability to adhere to an approved change control process
* Familiarity with enterprise software patching and cyclical platform reboots
* Significant experience preparing Power Point presentations, Visio engineering diagrams and technical documentation (e.g., requirements and design) for complex systems
* Demonstrated on-the-job experience with virtualization technology (Hyper-V, VMWare)
* Working knowledge of WSUS
* Strong oral and written communications skills

Required Certification:

* MCSE, MCSA, MCTS or MCA

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

* Demonstrated on-the-job experience with Release Engineering
* Experience with software deployment process improvement
* Experience with platform build task sequencing
* Strong understanding of DoD 8570, ICD 503, DCID 6/3
* Experience using DevOps tools to include JIRA, Jenkins, GitHub, Packer, Terraform
* Experience coding in any number of the following: PowerShell, Ruby on Rails, Python
* Experience with automated unit testing and regression testing
* Demonstrated on-the-job experience with Smart Card integration
* Demonstrated on-the-job experience with Linux Integration with Active Directory
* Demonstrated on-the-job experience with Disaster Recovery/COOP exercises
* Demonstrated on-the-job experience with HP hardware to include Blade Center Chassis

Education and Experience Requirements:

* 12 Years of job related experience and High School/GED diploma
* 10 Years of job related experience and Associate degree
* 8 Years of job related experience and Bachelor’s degree
* 6 Years of job related experience and Master’s degree
* 4 Years of job related experience and Doctorate

Work Hours: Core Hours 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
