Position Summary:

The Global Video team develops video surveillance solutions for both the Enterprise and Commercial segments. You will be part of the growing Video organization within Global Security Products. As the Software Engineering Leader for the Interlogix brand, you will be involved in the entire software development lifecycle for Commercial video products. You will be critical to the team’s ability to meet the unique challenges of product development and deliver high quality software that exceeds our customers’ expectations. You will coordinate with the local and global development team in activities related to design, implementation and testing of the video surveillance product portfolio. As manager, you will plan the activities of the local team and ensure that projects are executed in line with business goals.

You will be confronted regularly with the unique challenges faced by our customers. Additionally, you will have exposure to many traditional software development and project management responsibilities which will enable you to not only grow as an engineering manager, but will also give you opportunity to foster and grow your leadership skills in a role that helps drive the direction of a motivated software development team. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about our product, technology and industry which will equip you for other exciting roles within the broader UTC company.

This position is based in Costa Mesa, California.

In this position, you will be responsible for:

* Leading the team to success in accordance with business requirements
* Organizing and coordinating the work of agile teams
* Providing support to project teams in technical, tooling and organizational terms
* Ensuring effective communication within the team and between teams
* Planning and providing an individual career plan for team members that are in line with the personal goals and goals of the organization
* Participating in the preparation and development of a product development strategy for video surveillance products
* Supervision and participating in the full life cycle of software development (from specification and design through implementation, testing and support)
* Working closely with the members of the software development teams, Technical Support, Development, Quality Assurance, and Product Management groups, as well as with end users
* Working in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines, and staying on top of current technologies

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

* 5+ years of technical software development, systems integration, systems engineering or equivalent technical experience as an individual contributor
* 2 years of experience managing a software engineering team and/or systems integration team
* Deep knowledge and 2 years of experience in implementation of Scrum/Agile development methodology
* Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking skills, accompanied by the ability to drive tasks to completion and on schedule
* Experience in developing software applications using C#, C/C++
* Experience in developing web applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, HTML, CSS
* Strong adaptability, analytical and forward thinking skills
* Experience and success stories in implementation of the agile process and supportive tools like Rally, JIRA
* Proven ability to adapt quickly to emerging technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience coaching and mentoring engineers
* Experience writing technical documents
* Experience working with a global team with multiple geographic locations
* Knowledge of security systems: access control, video surveillance, intrusion / fire detection

This position may require travel up to 20%. International travel is possible.

Educational Requirements:

* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering
* Master’s degree preferred
