VEHICLE MECHANIC

As part of our continued development, we are recruiting for a professional and enthusiastic Vehicle Mechanic to join our busy and dynamic GSE vehicle maintenance team.  This full-time position is available immediately on a permanent contract basis.

Applicants should have:

• City & Guilds/NVQ or equivalent qualification
• Plant or heavy goods vehicle training
• Clean, LGV UK driving license an advantage
• Experience of both diesel and electric vehicles, hydraulics and welding
• Excellent diagnostic and repair skills
• Experience of a busy workshop

Duties include being responsible for keeping the ground service equipment (GSE) fleet operational. The work involves dealing with breakdowns and repairs, also scheduled servicing and maintenance. Experienced candidates will be preferred.

An awareness of health and safety and safe working practices is very important, although full training is provided.

Successful applicants will be required to provide checkable and reliable references (education and/or employment) for the last 5 years and will be required to provide references to cover any gaps in employment.  Candidates must have a full UK driving license (max 3 penalty points), have proof of the right to work in the UK, and will be required to complete a basic criminal record check (both UK and overseas). All positions work a rotating shift pattern across a 7-day working week, with a mix of early and late shifts, so flexibility is essential.    

Salary package c.£28,846.93 basic pay plus shift pay (variable), contractual bonus, attendance bonus and pension benefits.
