Job Summary

We are currently looking to recruit a Cost and Material Controller to join our team based in Gatwick.

In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining systems in order to monitor main cost drivers (personnel & material cost). You will also be responsible in actively coaching line management in the interpretation of collected data and ensuring corrective measures are taken.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Food & Beverage Controlling Functions

* Design, implement and optimise Actual vs Theoretical food cost analysis on a weekly basis

* To carry out investigation of stock variances for Gate Gourmet Gatwick Ltd

* To report on stock variances and recommend remedial action for implementation.

* To carry out evaluation exercise of top fifteen spend items, including yield testing and tracking of usage.

* To carry out comparative exercises of theoretical against actual usage for these lines.

* To ensure menu items used are as those costed and to follow up on any anomalies.

* Perform periodical spot check to ensure that flight invoicing is always correct, and products produced are charged for.

* To monitor wastage reports daily and implement remedial action as required in conjunction with Production and Food stores.

* To ensure that a system of par stock level holding is implemented and maintained.

* To carry out analyses of Make vs Buy on products as deemed necessary by the operation.

* To update yield information regularly and provide feedback to costings.

* To ensure compliance with specifications at all times by ensuring a direct link between costings department and units.

Finance Management:

* Being aware of the finance implications to the operation of the business.

* To understand the role of Customs, their role and regulations and cost implications.

Change management functions:

* Identify structural or underlying root causes in cost patterns and address them with projects.

Other:

* To carry out other duties or projects as required by General Manager / Supply Chain Process Owner / Finance Department.

* To adhere always to company policy with regard to health, safety and the environment.

* To adhere always to company policy with regard to food safety.

* Implement and maintain unit balanced scorecard

Qualifications:

Education:

* Educated to a Degree level or equivalent.

* AAT Level 3 or quivalent

Work Experience:

* Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role.

* Experience in Costings across a multi-account environment

* Experience in managing Change management projects

Skills & Knowledge:

* Numerate and literate, ability to interface with management

* Must demonstrate integrity, confidentiality and professionalism at all times

* Ability to work efficiently using own initiative to resolve issues

* Ability to build relations and manage diverse teams

* Effective verbal and written communication skills in English,

* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)

* Ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales, prioritising as appropriate

* Proactive and positive/flexible attitude
