L3 SSG

L3 SSG specializes in the development, manufacturing and qualification of remote E-O sensing payloads, instruments and major sub-systems primarily for space as well as unique airborne applications. Space mission areas include major science investigation, situational awareness, launch detection and weather analysis. Primary markets served include NASA, DoD, intelligence communities and commercial space. Primary airborne contributions include hyperspectral payloads for specialized overseas missions and critical line-of-sight control sub-systems for targeting systems.

Position Summary

L3 Technologies Space Sensors Group (SSG) has an opportunity for a junior level Software Intern to join our software team to assist in a wide variety of software tasks that will allow the candidate a better understanding of engineering principles and overall project development in a team oriented environment. Responsibilities will include: software test station development (design, code, and test) for current aerospace projects, debug and analysis of hardware/software interfaces, testing of full aerospace camera assemblies, attend team meetings, and assist with customer interfacing.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Some knowledge of programming languages and concepts, such as C/C++, Java, Python, and object oriented design.

• Related summer/school project experience in software development.

• Problem solving skills.

• Good oral, written and inter-personal skills for interfacing with management and co-workers.

Education Level

• High School Diploma and currently enrolled in a 4-year degree program in Computer Science (CS), Electrical Engineering (EE), or related technical discipline from an accredited College or University.

Desired Skills/Experience

• Experience developing, integrating, and testing on microcontrollers or microprocessors
• Experience with software configuration management tools (GIT, ClearCase, etc.), anomaly tracking tools (JIRA), and peer review process
• Hands-on debug skills with logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.
• Experience with the Linux/UNIX Operating System (OS)
• Ability to debug/analyze data
