Terra Communications (Comm.) Subsystem Engineer

Perform all duties of the Communications (Comm.) Subsystem Engineer, which includes but is not limited to the following:

• Directly report to the Terra Flight Systems Manager (FSM)
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Comm. subsystem for the spacecraft (components include Omni and High Gain Antennas, Ku-band, X-Band, and S-Band systems, etc)
• Monitor the trending and analysis data for the Comm. subsystems on a daily, weekly, monthly and long term basis
• Assist online engineers in identifying and correcting Comm. problems encountered in real-time at anytime, including off-hours/weekends
• Assist offline engineers in identifying and correcting spacecraft issues
• Understand Terra Fault Detection, Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) and how to respond to all Comm. related spacecraft anomalies
• Develop/Create process improvements, enhancements for the Comm. subsystems and spacecraft in order to improve accuracy or efficiency
• Create and update Comm. procedures, pages, plots, etc
• Train new online engineers about the Comm. subsystem
• Submit monthly and other report status of the Comm. subsystem as needed
• Attend all necessary meeting related to the Comm. subsystem and spacecraft. This can include leading Comm. related meetings and/or providing inputs for the Comm. subsystem.
• Coordinate Terra Communications operational issues and concerns with Planning and Scheduling (PAS) as well as the Ground and Space Network groups.
• Coordinate testing and certification of new ground stations
• Track Ground and Space Network issues and activities to ensure minimum impact to Terra operations
• Review Terra contact schedule to identify and resolve any scheduling issues or concerns

Qualifications

Systems Engineer

* BS in Engineering or Related Discipline

Systems Engineer, Experienced

* BS in Engineering or Related Discipline
* 3 years of spacecraft flight operations experienced including subsystem experience (EOS Flight operations preferred)

Systems Engineer, Senior

* BS in Engineering or Related Discipline
* 5 years of spacecraft flight operations experienced including subsystem experience (EOS Flight operations preferred)
