JOB DUTIES

Sets up, Installs, troubleshoots, repairs and modifies Hydraulic an Electric Control Loading and Motion Systems in aircraft light simulators.

Responsible for procuring kits and assembling the Power Distribution and Motion Control cabinets in accordance with related drawings; installing all internal cabling, and connecting incoming power to ensure proper operation of all safety circuits.

Performs mechanical setup of the flight controls in accordance to aircraft specific information. Makes adjustments to linkage and aircraft components to ensure travels are met without obstruction or causing damage to cockpit equipment or personnel. Analyzes the mechanical aspects of the control loading and motion systems to identify interference and friction issues to ensure the system operates safely.

Coordinates with software engineers to ensure operational software loads are installed, correlated to the specific system, and are the correct version.

Coordinates with electrical and mechanical engineers to insure proper installation and operation of flight controls and motion system electrically and mechanically. Should have the ability to work unsupervised for most aspects of job duties.

Performs setup and calibration of flight controls and motion systems for specific aircraft types to ensure proper operation and safety.

Responsible for maintenance of the motion and control loading systems to ensure they are ready for use and safe.

Troubleshoots, isolates, and repairs or replaces electrical components pertaining to the control loading and motion systems. Removes, bench tests, reinstalls and operates the part, ensuring all indications and functions are in accordance with applicable technical specifications.

Sets up standard test apparatus or devises test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life-cycle tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model.

Uses specific mathematical skills to find voltage, current and resistance (Ohm’s Law); find frequency, compute amplifier gains, and utilize various formulae required for accurate analysis of electronic circuitry at the component level.

Analyzes and interprets flight test data and appropriately translates the data for proper setup of flight controls.

Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and RQUIREMENTS

AS in Electronic Technology or equivalent Military training and/or 1-year simulation experience.

Higher levels must be familiar with Visual Studio, Beyond Compare, DOS, UNIX and data acquisition systems.

Basic computer operation, software setup, networking, electronic testing equipment (Multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators and power supplies), hand tools (drills, air tools, torque wrenches, force gauges), soldering equipment and crimping tools. A strong mechanical inclination recommended.

Should be familiar with the following test equipment for grades 10/11: Power monitoring equipment and bus/disturbance analyzers.
