Technical Writer Technical Communicator

ZENETEX specializes in management and technology support services for a variety of federal agencies and commercial organizations. We are looking for an experienced Technical Writer to support our Tactical Training Group Pacific (TTGP) in San Diego, CA.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Technical Writer will be responsible for preparing instruction manuals, journal articles, and other supporting documents that communicate complex and technical information more easily. The Technical Writer will also will develop, gather, and disseminate technical information among customers, designers, and manufacturers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Determining the needs of technical documentation end users
* Studying product samples and coordinating with product designers and developers
* Coordinating with technical staff members to make products more user friendly
* Organizing and writing supporting documents for a variety of products
* Increasing user understanding utilizing photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts
* Selecting and utilizing the appropriate medium (such as manuals or online videos) for messages and/or audiences,
* Standardizing content across platforms and media
* Gathering usability feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers
* Revising documents as new issues arise

Education and Experience Requirements

* High school diploma and at least 2 years of demonstrated technical writing experience.
* Experience with creating operating instructions, how-to manuals, and "frequently ask questions" pages
* Ability to utilize interactive technologies to blend text, graphics, multi-dimensional images, sound, and video
* Must have the ability to understand complex information and communicate it effectively to diverse populations
* High level of proficiency with MS Office products Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) preferred
* Comp TIA Security + will be required within 6 months after hire date

Security Clearance

* This position will require U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance.
