Job Role:
The Technical Support position will be responsible for developing major/minor structural repairs and alterations for composite & sheet metal structures. Technical Support will obtain FAA/DER approval for repair/alteration procedures when required to ensure efficient and compliant instructions for continued airworthiness. They will also be responsible for assisting and providing guidance on repairs and alterations to composite materials and bonded aircraft structure and on facilities, equipment, and inspection processes.
Responsibilities
* Research and development for new capabilities
* Liaison with OEM and customer engineering staff
* Assist Production and Quality
* Analysis and resolution of non-conforming articles
* Research compliance of AD & Service Bulletins
* Research & development of OEM tooling and non OEM tooling equivalency
* Parts fabrication to support repair/overhaul in house work in line with AC 43-18
* Clarification of processes, specifications and requirements
* Material equivalency determination and approval
* Communicate with air carriers for major/minor determination
* Ensure that non OEM repair data supplied by the air carrier is approved data
* Qualify and determine inspection criteria for composite layup/bond tooling
* Develop composite shop traveler including materials, process tests and inspections
* Responsible for evaluating special equipment and test apparatus used by the repair station & making determination of acceptability for equivalency of special equipment and/or test apparatus
* Any other work as assigned
Qualifications
* A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or four years of technical engineering experience
* Ability to analyze and evaluate manufacturers’ repair instructions
* Knowledge of FAA CFR-14 regulations
* Ability to use precision tooling
* FAA A&P License is required
