As a Supplier Quality Engineer in Moog’s Aircraft Group you can expect to:

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will have latitude for independent decision making and action. This position is currently slated to have primary daily activities to occur on-site at supplier sites. The incumbent would report out of a home Moog Aircraft Group site. Therefore ability to frequently travel to various supplier locations within the assigned region is required. Candidates who do reside in the general regions but who do not report out of a Moog home site will also be considered.

Here’s what you’ll work on:

Source Inspection: The Supplier Quality Engineer will provide Inspection services for Moog while on-site at supplier facilities. This inspection could be visual or dimensional. Reports of the inspections will be maintained and will facilitate global shipments to various Moog facilities. This effort will consume a significant portion of the incumbent’s time.

Supplier Evaluation: The Supplier Quality Engineer is the primary interface with Moog suppliers for quality performance, beginning with initial and follow up supplier evaluation. This includes the performance of on-site surveys and supplier corrective action. The incumbent is expected to provide continuous improvement for all of these activities, based upon experience, supplier performance and changes in the technology of procured items. The incumbent is also expected to maintain complete records of all activity at each supplier, including supplier approval, survey reports, discrepancy reports, and corrective action requests/responses.

Corrective Action: The incumbent is a member of the preliminary review board. These duties include coordination with receiving inspection, production control, purchasing, engineering and quality engineering, as required. The assignment of root cause and corrective action to prevent recurrence is expected as a part of preliminary review. This root cause investigation may include coordination in areas such as drawing requirements, specifications, inspection planning, systems and procedures and supplier corrective actions. Active participation with the suppliers while on-site is considered a primary role of this position.

Qualifications:

* BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, and a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a Supplier Quality function.

* Excellent judgment, interpersonal, communication and organization skills.

* Assertiveness, tact, persistence and persuasive ability

* A technical background and experience with supplier processes

* Proficiency with computers and is required, as is knowledge of statistical concepts and Quality Management Systems (ISO9001, AS9100, etc.)

* Self-motivated and have the ability to work on several different tasks simultaneously without confusion.
