Role Overview

Join a fast growing research team focused on developing new and innovative technologies to ensure the security of connected aircraft and critical embedded systems.

Collins Aerospace is seeking software engineers to support a diverse portfolio of research and development activities within our Advanced Technology team. The primary responsibility of this role is the development of software enabling new technology innovations for securing cyber physical systems. The candidates will have an opportunity to build prototypes of new offensive and defensive security technologies and apply them to real-world systems. The person in this role should be self-motivated, serving as a key software engineer for new technology developments. Software engineering projects may include multi-level computing systems, secure networking, intrusion detection, and advanced vulnerability analysis tools. As part of our team, candidates will have the opportunity to significantly contribute to new research we are doing in cyber physical system security.

Key Responsibilities:
* Serve as a technical lead for complex software development projects using languages such as C and C++. Other languages may include Java and Python.
* Provide subject matter expertise in operating systems, hardware drivers, and networking
* Participate in teams of hardware, software, and systems engineers to develop, integrate, and evaluate key new software technologies
* Primary Responsibilities:

• Develops, coordinates and conducts complex tests and debugs control and diagnostic systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
• Liaises closely with other project team members in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercials software to ensure smooth operations on software engineering activities.
• Recommends changes in the selection and application of software production components to improve and develop software engineering activities.
• Designs and implements build procedures that are used to support hardware and software product development and function.
• Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs control and diagnostic systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
• Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
• Determines end user needs by analyzing system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements and input data acquisition.
• Ensures hardware and software standards are met.
• Designs and implements build procedures that are used to support hardware and software product development and use.
• May develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.
• May train software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards.
• Includes control modeling (model based design).

The candidate must possess a Computer Science or Engineering degree along with a strong understanding of operating systems and networking fundamentals. The ideal candidate will possess previous embedded systems and security experience. ​

Basic Qualifications:
Candidates for this role should possess a Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience
