Description

Rockwell Collins is a renowned supplier of products, systems and services for the commercial airline industry.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic System Engineer with a natural curiosity to learn to join our Engineering team. We develop a range of software solutions for the commercial airline industry, and our current focus is providing on-premise and cloud-based information management and real-time flight tracking applications.

The ideal candidate can demonstrate an industry standard systems engineering approach to developing innovative solutions and will have some multi-tier software application testing experience.

Our in house development, test and support groups operate within both traditional and Scrum frameworks. We are a lively and dynamic team who thrive on collaboration, communication and problem solving using new or proven techniques.

Reporting to the Engineering Group Manager, the successful candidate will be comfortable capturing, documenting and collaborating on software application requirements. You will be passionate about customer satisfaction and are able to communicate with a global audience from a wide range of cultures.

Responsibilities

*

Work with business stakeholders to create, capture, review, trace and modify requirements in either traditional or User Story format.

*

Contribute to the development of functional and interface specifications for software applications.

*

Create and run integration and system and user acceptance tests for software products of moderate complexity.

*

Estimate, track, own and report status for assigned scope of work.

*

Installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools

*

Working with development team and business stakeholders to develop and maintain test plans, test scripts and test cases for manual testing procedures

*

Execution of manual and automation test techniques (including functional, non-functional, and exploratory testing)

*

Representing the customer perspective and associated quality in any technical discussion, decision and product design reviews

Experience/Requirements

*

Able to demonstrate a logical approach to resolving problems/issues

*

Able to communicate appropriately at different levels (technical, business, commercial, customer)

*

Previous working experience of software testing

*

Previous experience working in an Agile Scrum environment

Desirable

*

Practical experience of test automation tools or frameworks like Selenium WebDriver

*

Working knowledge using JIRA & Confluence collaboration tools

*

Previous experience of cross-browser / device testing of web applications

*

Working knowledge of continuous integration and deployment environments

*

Exposure of testing software in cloud environments such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or others would be beneficial

*

Technical understanding of:

*

Windows Server 2012 R2 install and config

*

Knowledge of SQL

*

Relational database management systems (RDBMS) (Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL)

*

VMWare ESXi platforms

*

AWS cloud platform

*

Message queueing middleware (IBM, JMS)
