Job Summary

Collins Aerospace is currently seeking a Sr. Software Engineer for the development of embedded software for Avionics Navigation products for Design Assurance Level A (DAL-A) using DO-178 B/C. This is a software engineering position with a focus on the full life cycle development including requirements capture and development, software architecture and integration, testing and verification. This may include new project development, along with integration and test of new features within the current avionics software.

Job Responsibilities

* Contribute to software engineering requirements capture and analysis in area of domain expertise

* Considered a Subject Matter Expert in at least one area and considered a domain generalist in multiple areas, including a moderate understanding of systems knowledge in the assigned areas.

* Design, code, test, integrate and document software of moderate to high complexity, Apply and tailor internal processes, using knowledge of methods and tools for software development and documentation efforts. Ensure that development products are designed to meet the applicable RCI, Business Unit, and Customer/Project requirements.

* Work in software development or verification efforts for moderate to high complexity software.

* Participate in cross-functional team efforts in definition, integration, verification and validation for products and sub-systems of moderate to high complexity. Perform debugging and integration of software components above and below currently developed software.

* Review software defects trends, identify systemic root causes and process improvements and recommend new approaches, tools, techniques that drive continuous improvements in software development processes.

* Capable of proactively identifying and communicating technical software issues and help resolve these issues. Ensure these issues are elevated to project leadership for resolution.

* Report status and identify risks and opportunities for the project.

Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline

* Experience in Avionics Development & Certification to Design Assurance Level A/C (DAL-A to DAL-C)

* Demonstrated experience in all phases of DO- 178 B or DO-178 C (prefer) Software Development Life Cycle

* Proficient skills in real time embedded software development using C/C++, specifically related to Object Oriented development

* Experience in developing test cases, test procedures and test automation

* Python or equivalent scripting skills

* Matlab experience a plus
